He has to play Saban every year, for one. Kirby doesn't even have to do that. You see how well he does when he has to play Saban.

Dabo has beaten Saban twice in the national championship, Kiffin has never beaten Saban.

If not for "Rocky Block", Kiffin beats Saban at tenner. Kirby has only beaten Saban when Metchie and Jamo got injured.

So, clearly you think Dabo is better than Kirby??

A lot of coaches have almost beat Saban, not many have.

So... Dabo has twice as many wins vs Saban than Kirby in less tries.

Is Dabo better than Kirby?

Kiff occasionally slips in a Roll Tide when being interviewed. If the timing is right, it’s Kiff.

You know there’s another SEC coach who had a less than stellar career as an NFL guy, right?

Your assertion that he would not be a good fit at Alabama is an argument with merit where you can make valid points. Your argument that his coaching record is bad is the exact opposite. That dig about the losing season at FAU is a great point. Right in the middle of the greatest pre-Saban era in Bama history, Bear Bryant had back to back 6-5 seasons.

It also isn’t a Kiffin or Dabo argument. There are anti-Dabo posters who make poor, emotionally driven cases against him too. Dabo’s been very successful and likely be on any short list. Others have accurately pointed out though if he doesn’t adapt to the realities of the portal era his star is going to rapidly fade.

Yeah even I think Dabo will have to embrace the portal and NIL to have a shot here.

Even with NIL Dabo is still a better HS recruiter than Kiffin.

Dabo has signed four 5 star qbs in a row, Watson, Lawrence, DJU, and Clubnik. DJU and Clubnik have underperformed in college sure but the point remains that Dabo has signed four 5 star qbs in a row and Kiffin has never signed a 5 star QB.

Kiffin is a great portal recruiter but I would rather the majority of the team be recruited from HS then you fill a need here and there with the portal the way Saban does it.

Well shite, if a win over Saban is now part of the criteria then let's add fricking Jimbo to the list. It definitely won't be a total disaster. Aggy will still be paying him 5 years from now when Saban retires too so he'd be cheap.

The conversation is who we want to replace Saban. You derailed the thread by bringing ED O and Chizik into it, now you’re bringing in Jimbo.

I would rather stick to who is better between our actual candidates and what they’ve done or haven’t done.

Cool. Let’s say Dabo has another couple 9-3 or 8-4 seasons in the less than stellar ACC. Would that concern you?

He did it again yesterday when he was asked to make a prediction on the game.

Dabo has been at Clemson since 2009.
Lane has been at Ole Miss since 2020.

Who's program is in better shape today?

Kiffin wants it. He thinks he can win big with our resources. Big enough to survive being the successor to the MAN.

Kiffen hired Pete Golding. That gives me pause.

As a favor to Saban, perhaps?

Kiffin Did better this year but that’s the only year he has done better. That’s why I said that thinking Kiffin is a better coach is recency bias. This is the first year in a long time that Dabo didn’t win 10 games at Clemson. With all that FSU is losing it won’t surprise me if Clemson wins the ACC next year and is in the 12 team playoff.

Reports of Dabo falling off a cliff are greatly exaggerated, this year is the only “bad” year he’s had there since 2010 and they still won 9 games.

I do like Kiffin we could do a lot worse. If he ends up being who replaces Saban I think he will do well here.
