I would be sick if Alabama hired Dabo.

Dabo's failure to adapt to the new world of college football makes that a NO from me.

He's 9-4 in the ACC

I wouldn’t hire that guy either. He’s a total unknown, but Lane Kiffin has to be on every major program’s short list of potential coaches.

This is still the same Lane we told to get fricked mid playoffs because he was too engrossed with sucking at his next destination in boca raton???

Do we win if Kiff calls that game ? Probably so IMO.

Kiff lost two games this year (to the top two teams in the country) at Ole Miss.

CLEARLY outcoached James Franklin and embarrassed Penn St.

Kiffin would have Bama scoring 40+ points per game. All he needs is a good DC, and it would be business as usual.

I would be fine with Lane.. I mean who out there is available that’s better?

Dabo. What has Kiffin won exactly? The Peach bowl. A lot of recency bias in this thread.

What has Dabo won without Venebles or generational QBs? Without a weak schedule? Playing in the SEC week in and week out, he would get embarrassed and the pressure of Alabama would get to him.

No recency bias here. I think Lane is a better coach , regardless of Dabos NC. Lane brings a brilliant offensive mind and I think he could win big at Bama. We could do worse than Dabo but to me , he just brings cringe worthy press conferences to the table

As a college coach, he’s had one losing season

While that’s true. He still failed in Oakland.

7-6 at Tennessee then bailed after one year.

USC 8-5, 10-2, 7-6, 3-2. Seems he was headed in the wrong direction at USC.

Couple of good years at FAU but one year at 5-7(honest question, did he not coach that year?)

And he has done great at Ole Miss. That can’t be denied. But he has done nothing to prove he will win national championships at Alabama. He also hired Pete Golding. And he did not do that as a favor for us like some try to say. Although I praise him for that.

Personally I just don’t think he’s a good fit for us. He’s a good coach and I think that’s his max. But I could definitely be wrong and if we end up with him I hope I am.

Y’all act like Dabo didn’t beat us twice. In the playoffs. And almost a 3rd!

Roll Tide tomorrow though guys!!!!

That’s fair. I care about winning championships more than how a coach sounds in the press conference.

Kiffin will climb my list is they make the playoffs this year and I think they will. I like Kiffin.

Starting in 1995-99 at Mich St Saban went

6-5
6-6
7-5
6-6
9-2 which he parlayed into the HC job at LSU in 2000

8-4
10-3
8-5
13-1
9-3 which he parlayed into the HC job at the Dolphins where depending on how you look at it did not end well.

Saban did not mature and become the all knowing unbeatable force that he became until he joined up with Alabama. Since then he has been the best to do it of all time.

My guess is Kiffin is on an extremely similar trajectory, and once he is given the resources and brand name Alabama has to offer while also maturing and learning from all his past experiences he will become the best coach in college football. He's a football guy. It means a lot to him, and much like his father his understanding of the game is very instinctual.

I think Kiffin at Bama with all those resources and 5 stars on sideline would be hell on wheels.

I like Kiffin but Kiffin is nothing like Saban they aren't comparable.

Also Saban won a NC at LSU in his 9th year as a HC. Kiffin has been a college HC for 10 years and his best win is the Peach Bowl last week.

I have to disagree here. He never had a maturity problem. Or center of attention problem.

True. Kirby is the closest but I don’t see him leaving Georgia to come here since it’s his Alma mater. Maybe if Kirby really does go to the NFL we’d eventually have a shot at him if he decides he wants to return to college like Saban did.

If you want another Saban, we’ll have to clone him. We won’t have anyone like him again.
And if by some miracle we are gifted another Bryant or Saban then you can be sure that God is a Crimson Tide die hard.

Yep, that’s my point. He is the best coach of all time . Won’t be another in my lifetime
