If that happens what they should do is take down Sabans current statue, and redesign it with him spanking Kiffin on the sideline AJ McCarron style. now THAT would be an epic Saban and Kiffin statue

And who was the DC during Kiffin's last season as OC at Alabama?

Idk why we think the successor has to have coached here before. I wanna go out and get the best coach available period. Not the beat coach we can get that was a coordinator here.

I don’t think we need to just stick to guys who are current CFB coaches either, we took Saban from the Dolphins.

Who knows...maybe he's a candidate in a few years. But just don't hire a flavor of the month that has just had success with 1 QB. Too many times a great QB has gotten an average coach a job he had no business getting.

If Dabo embraces NIL and the portal by the time Saban retires he’s my choice. He played here and he is the only Current cfb coach aside from Saban and Smart that’s won multiple national championships, and he’s still got a lot of good years left in him. I don’t think Clemson has the money to keep up with the big boys in NIL and Dabo would make the jump.

If Kiffin or Lanning wins a NC next year then they may move up on my list, but I haven’t seen enough from either of them yet.

I know a lot of Bama fans hate on Dabo and I get it, he is cringeworthy but if not for Saban/Alabama beating them Dabo would probably have 4 national championships already.

I say Dabo. If Saban bolted in the next year or so. He took Clemson to the top. Nobody can say that. Once he gets accustomed to the new ways of CFB he will be right back in the hunt.

Lane still has a lot to prove. (Plus he hired Golding) He has failed in so many jobs that hoping he has grown up to go along with a few decent years does not warrant the Bama job. Freeze and Mullins both had great years at the Mississippi schools but looking back none of us would take either of those guys.

the ego to attempt to replace Saban.

This is why I think he would be a great replacement. He will not let others make decision for him and make it his program right away. The pressure of replacing Saban will not hinder him.

I vote Lane.

He has the confidence/ arrogance to follow the goat and is getting better each year. Let’s not forget he’s at Ole Miss which has a ceiling. He can’t win the conference there with its limitations.

Lane + Pruitt and we are rolling.

Kirby Smart. I've stated it before. You entice him with the the contract and the proposal - "we're impressed with what you've done at Georgia but can you do it at more than one program, like Nick."

I think this sentence alone is the answer why Dabo can never be allowed to coach at Bama.

He cant adapt to anything. He couldn't adapt when he lost his coaches most notably Venebles. How many times has CNS had to completely retool the team and keep on marching.

He hasn't adapted to NIL- Saban had an entire NIL department and sales pitch for recruits about how Bama would help their brand.

Dabo is what he is... he's a guy that benefited from playing in a very weak league. A guy that benefited from keeping all his coaches together for a long time. A guy that benefited from having not 1 but 2 generational QB's.

And finally a guy that benefited from being one of the first to go out and steal signs, and actually use that to his advantage.

His teams look like shite, and play down to everybody they play no matter how bad they are. He sounds like a doofus in front of a camera.

Can you imagine Dabo in this new SEC with these grueling schedules, with a heavy hitter every weekend ? Dabo wouldn't even be in the top tier of coaches in the SEC.

NO, no, just say no

I would be sick if Alabama hired Dabo.

I’m not team anybody because Saban is still the coach. Picking a replacement is something to address when that’s no longer the case.

Having said that

quote:

He has failed in so many jobs

is demonstrably untrue.

He failed with the Raiders in the NFL. He was 30 and everyone else fails there too. As a college coach, he’s had one losing season (5-7 in 2018 @FAU in 13 years as a head coach and that includes his partial season record when Joey Freshwater got him fired at USC in 2013.

You really think Kirby would leave his alma mater ? lol

C'mon man.

I mean maybe the boosters could drive Sark out of Texas, but I doubt it due to the amount of money they would give him to keep him should anyone come calling.

It's pretty clear that Kiffin is the best option. After that it's Lanning.

I just hope Kiffin doesn't sign some abomination contract somewhere with some ridiculous buy out that makes it impossible to get him when the time comes.

The only schools that could possibly have openings soon that would be big enough jobs to entice him away and keep him would probably be Florida or Michigan- something tells me Kiff is not a Michigan kinda guy, but he could definitely fit in over at Florida. Hell he'd probably be trouble at Florida.

The thing that worries me about Kiffen is his immaturity. One of his staffers was trolling PSU with a fake x account. Just could not imagine Saban ever thinking something like that was acceptable, nor would anyone on his staff do that.
