If it was Schumann or Leonard, why weren’t they announced weeks ago?

FootballScoop reporting that Kevin Steele has interviewed and Saban is vetting another unknown candidate right now

Kevin Steele would be a good hire. He had great defenses at Auburn and is obviously familiar with Sabans defense.

Sounds like our guy if Saban stays on brand with most of his hires.

I can understand trying to talk yourself into liking the OC hire, but I don’t see how anyone could talk themselves into thinking Kevin Steele would be a good hire.

Kevin Steele would most likely be a bridge hire until Pruitt is past NCAA issues.

Kevin Steele in this type of role, I can handle. Grantham as that guy - no. But Kevin Steele paving the way for a Pruitt return, with Armstrong working closely with both, I can definitely get behind.

Lmao at Kevin Steele. Are you fricking kidding me? If we hire Kevin Steele it's over boys. Down vote away but we are trading Pete for Kevin Steele? No way is that an upgrade.

Kevin Steele is an upgrade over Pete imo

Imo, it'd make more sense to initially hire JP as an analyst that guides Armstrong as the Interim-DC/ILB Coach. Then promote JP to DC and Armstrong to Co-DC/ILB Coach.

I'm not even paying attention to a word about the DC search until I see Chris Low tweets something.

Nobody else has any clue.

Let's compare how Pete Golding and Kevin Steele led defenses performed against 2019 LSU.

Alabama gave up 46 points and 559 yards at home.

Auburn gave up 23 points and 508 yards in Baton Rouge.

Geoff Collins also isn’t doing anything at the moment.

He gave up 70 points to West Virginia. Kevin Steele is a downgrade from Pete.

We ridiculed Auburn for hiring him.

I don't know what the inner workings of the market are right now and trust Saban to do the best possible but that would suck.

That was a decade ago, dude.

He was a very good DC at Auburn.

I’m not saying he’s my first choice, but some of you are acting like he’s no better an option than Grantham.

All I know is he was good here previously. Also at LSU and Auburn too. I think it would be a solid hire.

He’s an immense upgrade from Golding.

I could be wrong, but I doubt Steele will be Bama's next DC.
