Lol
I personally think if Pruitt gets a show cause saban should still make him a co dc and bring in a guy we know we’ll lose to a HC job in the next 2 years. Once Pruitt is DC I think he’ll be here until Saban retires. I doubt he gets another HC job. It was rumored then he was a really bad interview and he’s had some hot head moments in the past.

During the show cause there are restrictions on recruiting and other things. Would you really want your co D guy not able to go out and recruit. I dont think so,.U may want to research show cause on NCAA coaches before you blab out utter BS. And I am a fan of JP and would give my third nut for him to be our DC if there are no restrictions. But if he was NS's man he would have already been named since he is not on a team who is still in the playoffs. I can only assume the potential NCAA issues wont resolved until this spring.

What is the definition of recruiting? Obviously, going to see a player live, at his HS or home, texting/calling the prospect, etc. is recruiting

But if, say, a position coach brings a recruit to campus, where he meets the DC, and they discuss how that prospect would fit in the system, etc, is the DC "recruiting"?

Saban has reached out to Pruitt regarding the DC job, per Dennis Dodd of CBS Sports.

Alabama coach Nick Saban has reached out to former Tennessee coach Jeremy Pruitt regarding the Crimson Tide's vacant defensive coordinator position, sources tell CBS Sports. It is believed no offer has been made at this time, and Alabama would not speak on Pruitt's candidacy when contacted for comment.

I can't stand Dodd. But if this is true, I might change my mind

He’s definitely the most legit source thus far to report on anything between Alabama and Pruitt.

If the boy thing holding Jeremy up is two yrs of not being an on trail recruiter I don’t care. The schematics and attitude he brings the defense far outweighs his ability to recruit. Saban and Armstrong can recruit defensive players and pick up slack.

Is that third a real pain? Like does it get in the way a lot. You might want to get rid of it anyway.

I think if Pruitt gets a show cause, not only would he not be able to recruit, but I also think it would put Bama in the repeat violator window. If that is the case, then if the university has any hiccup with violations while he's under a show cause, then the NCAA can punish us as repeat offenders which wouldn't be good.

If he gets a show cause, we aren't going to hire him without working out some sort of deal so that we aren't in the repeat violator window.

Color me a simpleton, but this all seems unreasonable after the barn hired freeze.

Freeze didn't have a show cause when they hired him.

so the ncaa would let him be out of work for 2 years, then tack on a show cause for most likely 2 more years? a 4 year punishment? hmm...

I would hope not, but who knows? The NCAA is far from predictable with their rulings. And being complete a-holes isn't outside of their past actions.

No, but Bruce Pearl did.

Having your HC not able to recruit for 5 mos seems more of an impediment than having your DC have to take a knee on the recruiting trail for a year.

I get all that. My point is if JP got a show cause, how ridiculous that would be given the circumstances.

I agree. The guy lost millions by not getting his buyout, and hasn't been able to get another college job for 2 years. I would think that is more than enough of a punishment for the guy.

Was Pearl still under a show cause when the FBI sting happened and Barn had to fire Person?

No. The show cause expired about 5 mos after he was hired at AU
