Because their offense wasn't heavily dependent on one aspect of the offense working for the entire thing to work.

Let’s just hope the injury bug stays away from Tuscaloosa this year. This is a theme that just about every team will have this year and every year under the current system. We have certain position groups where a couple of injuries forces us to play players that either aren’t ready or aren’t up to the needed standards. Now more than ever, injury luck is a critical component of winning a championship.

Bump!
Kane was spot on. Really good coach, and an even better person.

Defense seems solid, but building anything that lasts has to be tough with the portal. Hard to develop players in your system. Seems like coaching an all star team made up of different players every year.

Other than the paycheck, I really don’t envy coaches

Nah, they retain players extremely well. Defense hasn’t had one single player leave that they wanted to keep.
Russaw (had he agreed to be an off-ball LB) would’ve been retained.

They are investing their $$ into keeling and developing the players they recruit that fit the system defensively.

They had to overhaul the DL so they can play an Odd-Front with guys that fit the scheme instead of a bunch of 270lb-280lb guys

This is good to read. Heard how few starters they kept and assumed it was the revolving door that is often CFB these days

Defense is only side of ball there appears to be energy and cohesion. Offense looks unsure and lost.

I mean I guess the only you can say is they’re a young inexperienced offense at QB and OL. But they for sure have a ton to work on
