Wanna see us overhaul our recruiting evaluation process, because frankly it's been less than stellar the past few years. New blood and a fresh set of eyes will help.

With you there and thrilled with this hire on that front (on all fronts, really) - he seems to have a great eye for finding his dudes. Or he just has an unstoppable scheme that isn't talent dependent / is the world's best talent developer, which would also be fine lol.

Anyway, I'm pumped for this hire. Ready to see us light teams up right now .

Exactly. Mark Schabauck at ESPN is saying they concentrated on DeBoer right off the bat - especially knowing that people like Kirby and Sark were in very good places where they are.

Some real idiots here.

Cowherd claimed to have a source last night that the first call was to kick the tires on Sark. After that it was all DeBoer.

But what does Cowherd know ? Ive met Cowherd in person i can tell you he is definitely not an "idiot."

Saban himself has consistently said that its not about having he best coaches or scheme, but the best players. DeBoer has never shown any recruiting prowess at all and that is hugely concerning.

He's obviously a good coach but if we can't continue to recruit at a top 5 level, we're gonna fall off fast.

NIL does most the recruiting now. I think this is the BEST time ever transition from the best recruiter ever (Saban) to one of the best Xs and Os guys available DeBoer.

This is yet again a perfect storm for Bama assuming he doesnt bolt for the NFL in 3 years

He's never coached anywhere that can get top recruits. I don't know how anyone can evaluate that.

With him bringing the OC and WR Coach… and looking at their roster… it’s clear they like the bigger WR’s. This is fixing to get real fun real fast

“You can’t win if you can’t recruit and DeBoer can’t recruit”

Motherfricker, he played for a national title *this week*.

Iowa, Nebraska, Texas Tech, Oregon all beat him out in recruiting this year. A good recruiter at Washington shouldn't let that happen while ending in 30th place.

My bro, tommy rees was our oc last year, and that was the most boring offense ive ever watched. "Fun" does not begin to explain what we are in for. Bama talent with a kiffin level playcaller ? Print the shirts ! Lol

Just wanted to say I love the Kalen DeBoer hire, was on board right away. He was, in my opinion, the best choice. Smart and Sark are way too comfortable at their current spots. A lot of Lanning smoke initially that turned out not to be even close to true, and while he has roots here, he's 0-3 against DeBoer.

This dude is already a top 5 coach in the country. Every stop he's made his offenses have improved after arriving and have dipped after him leaving, even the one year Grubb stayed and DeBoer left for Indiana, that's a great sign.

He can scheme, game plan, and build with the rest of them. He has a terrific record and usually has the lesser of the talented team on the field but still comes out with the W and has a very impressive record as an underdog and against the top 25.

When he took over Washington, Lake just got tearing up their program. He took a 4-8 squad to a national title appearance in just two season. 5-0 against Lanning and Sark, including beating Sark in New Orleans when we couldn't even beat him at home.

The main question/concern is recruiting/new to region. With Saban taking on a role in the program, at least for now, that should really help ease the transition. He'll have a ton more talent to work with than ever before regardless.

Don't forget, Saban interviewed Grubb just last season for the OC spot. He obviously had an eye on Washington for a while. People can of course doubt the hire and be critical but with Byrne (and a bit of Saban) identifying this guy immediately, I think we're going to be ok. RTR!

In 2016 they were 29th the year before they made the CFP and in 2017 they were 22nd the year after they made the CFP. Washington is not an elite recruiting program.

If Alabama is outside the top 10 in recruiting next year, we can talk.

You never know how it will turn out. What we can judge a hire based on is what they've done to this point, and DeBoer has done by far the most of any of what seem to have been serious candidates. I think it's a good hire.

He's a winner. LOVE it. He's won everywhere he's been and will win at Alabama.
