How often are recruits sitting down to talk to coaches on zoom compared to how often they are texting? Cause if they are awake they are texting.

I can tell you that my teenager FaceTimes more than any other form of communication.

Ferguson said the Ala coaches call me every week. At least 2 assistants and Saban were calling. You build a relationship with someone by conversation, even if its just BSing.

I do bet that Saban had to learn to text during the pandemic and does do it now. He said on April 8th he didn't know how to.

He learned how to send an email back in April too, he admitted.

Thats one reason he is the GOAT he can adapt to every circumstance, he isnt gonna fall behind because of something as simple as learning how to text and email, I assumed he would learn how to.

C'mon, man. Saban was Skyping with recruits several years ago, before Zoom or FaceTime or other common video chat options. In fact, as has been pointed out multiple times, many recruiting rules are in place now because Saban kept finding legal loopholes (technological and otherwise) to contact recruits.

Don't put any stock in what Saban says publicly. He's a master at using the media to get points across to fans, recruits, and the team. What he says to the media and what's actually true don't always mesh up.

Yup, here’s a link talking about Saban and skype. (Behind paywall)
From 5/19/2017

Another snippet from a different article
quote:

Saban has proven to be a tireless recruiter, and his work ethic is the same when dealing with recruits that are already committed to Alabama, committed elsewhere or kids who are still on the market. Before landing a pair of quarterback commitments for the 2013 class, Saban was hot on the trail of Kingsland (GA) quarterback Brice Ramsey—who is committed to Georgia. Saban reportedly spoke with the prized signal-caller for roughly 90 minutes via Skype, and although the maneuver didn’t get Ramsey to switch his pledge, it showed that Saban will leave no stone unturned in his attempt to get the players he wants (h/t Michael Carvell, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution).

quote:

Saban has long embraced cool in his recruiting. His Web site once played hip-hop music. He was among the first college football coaches to use Skype to talk with players via online video. He video-conferenced regularly with Jadeveon Clowney, once the nation’s top recruit. Clowney plays for South Carolina, but he loved Saban. He told his coach at South Pointe High School, Bobby Carroll, that all the time.

No one said anything about him having someone else set up a skype call so he can talk to a recruit on it. We all know he has been doing that for a long time.

I mentioned texts and email in the first post nothing about him having other people set up skype calls for him so he can talk to recruits on skype, You think Saban himself knows how to set up a skype call?

Saban said in April he was learning how to use email and had never sent a text, I doubt he was lying about it.

quote:

And that includes finding new ways to communicate for Saban, who also said he didn't use text messaging previously.

"Calling me is about as far as it goes on the text part of it," he said. "But I can actually get an email now and read what somebody -- I mean, I've really come a long way."

Regardless I am sure he has learned how to text since then and it has helped with our recruiting.

You said this.
quote:

through text, twitter, ect.

You just conveniently left out the etc part.

Do you think that Saban is too stupid to learn how to skype? Do you know for a fact how each of his skype calls are made? Once again, you spout off your theories and try to pass them off as facts.

Have you ever had a skype call with Saban or been anywhere near when he is making one?

The Division I Council Coordination Committee extended the recruiting dead period in all sports through July 31. “The extension maintains consistent recruiting rules for all sports and allows coaches to focus on the student-athletes who may be returning to campus,” said Council chair M. Grace Calhoun, athletics director at Pennsylvania. “The committee is committed to reviewing the dead period again in late June or early July.” The committee will regularly evaluate the dead period, continuing to be guided by medical experts

It’s a recruiting dead period

He admitted in April he just learned to email and dind't know how to text Text, I think it's safe to assume he didn't know how to use skype by himself before the pandemic.

You know what happens when you assume. Saban also said that he wasn’t going to take the Alabama job. Might be wise not to trust everything he tells to the media

Nick Saban is a partner in Dream Motor Group, which owns four Mercedes dealerships in the southeast. He's the president of Sideline Inc., a Birmingham-based company focused on authorship of books / publications about himself. He's a director of Capstone Bank. He worked in the NFL for years, including a stint as a head coach as recently as 2006.

Do you honestly think a man with this many diverse business interests and responsibilities, in addition to his full-time job of being the most successful college football coach over the last 12 years, didn't know how to send an email or a text until three months ago?

Apply the principle of Occam's Razor: The simplest explanation is probably the right one.

Or choose to continue to argue this point for no reason whatsoever. None of your premises in the early sections of this thread have proven accurate.
