He might be a career DC like Chavis or one we had at Alabama Donahue.
Surprising Saban hasn't found one like that in his long career.

That’s why he needs to hire a Charlie Strong type. At least someone who we can have some continuity with. We would get 3-5 years with strong I believe. I don’t see Saban staying any longer than that.

This season feels like the 2010 or 2013 seasons

Both of those teams shed some locker room baggage afterward, too.

Odom wouldn't be a bad idea, you're right.

Hearing Golding is gone and probably won't coach the bowl game. Is this true? Did Saban go off on coaches and team last night? Will we go after Jimmy Lake again?

I heard something today from a booster- and obviously take it for what it’s worth (which is prob nothing):
He said that Golding would be gone bc his wife stirs up a lot of the other wives and just isn’t worth the trouble. Anyone else heard this? I don’t remember anyone talking about a coach’s wife before.

Venables would NOT work for Saban under any circumstances. When are you folks going to remember, Saban is an arse to work for.

I know you’re going to get downvoted for it, but it’s true. Saban is very demanding of his coaches and you never rest. It’s very successful but it’s also very taxing. He will chew your arse out in public and not think twice. I’m not sure I could even work for him.. it damn sure makes the resume look good, but not sure I would want my boss on my arse 24-7. A lot of you would be the same way if your boss chewed your arse at work in front of everyone. I would hate to be in that coaches meeting Sunday after the iron bowl.

Yes I know the father of a former coach at UA very well and he said he appreciated his time at Bama under Saban but is enjoying working in a different environment

there was chatter here and a couple other places that had alluded to Golding having some off field issues that were a distraction.

There are two types of people who can work for Saban long term. Coaches who are just like him and coaches who are old enough to no longer have any fricks to give and let it go in one ear and out the other.

Are you talking about like on the sidelines during a game?

Why not get someone with an NFL pedigree?

Why not just get someone who can coach this team in the Nickle? All we are seeing these days is spread concepts and RPOs. NFL is fine, but how much experience do they have in stopping what we are being overwhelmed by these days?

No one should look any further that the situation at Ohio State. New HC, Day, is an offensive mind and most novice can't see past Justin Fields and the offense as the driving force behind their resurgence. It's in fact the defensive philosophy that has completely turned that program around.

Gone is the Urban Meyer, gone is Greg Schiano and his constant morphing into late sets at the LOS that often only took them out of position on their reads. Sound familiar?

In comes 69-year-old, Michigan's Mattison. He came in and simplified, simplified and then simplified some more.

Mattison and co-defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley’s simplified scheme has the Buckeyes playing an attacking style, smothering the football and holding teams well below their season averages. This with essentially the same group of athletes that were on the field last season.

Fast players don't necessarily make a fast defense.

No new intel?

Gonna take us getting embarrassed in a bowl game for Golding to be told to hit the road?

My only hope is Coach is waiting until after signing day to change DC’s. Yes, we have had injuries, young players, etc., but there is a deeper problem there that only a coaching change (new dc) will fix.
