At least until things get fixed.

With Downs and Proctor now both in the portal, it has become clear to me now more than ever that the spirit of college football is dead and gone. These players are nothing more than guns for hire and aren’t even loyal to their teammates. They see dollar signs and split.

Isaiah Bond became an Alabama legend with his catch in the Iron Bowl. He would have never had to pay for a meal in Birmingham or Tuscaloosa ever again. Now he’s on his way to play for a rival SEC school.

I just don’t care at all anymore for what college football has evolved into. It’s all about money now and I’m tired of it. ESPN has ruined the sport as have these other networks that have injected hundreds of millions of dollars into the sport. The NCAA did a piss poor job preparing for this moment and now it’s the Wild West. Until reform comes to the sport I fear it will continue to be this way.

Until that reform comes, I am out. Major college football is dead to me.

I'm leaning this way. I was planning on going to Madison or Norman this fall with one of my kids. I've been taking a kid with me to a big away game the last couple of years.

I'm not spending money on that anymore.

As a fan I feel like we're the poor sap at the strip club thinking the stripper really does like us.

It’s pro ball now. You can just watch the top pro league now - the NFL - like most people do.

I just hope that the changes don't come till a few more schools lose their coach and have their "xyz won't leave...he loves _____" and can't replace them. Will be a little more fun

That’s my plan. I’m going to probably start following the Falcons.

lol you guys are overreacting.

Eventually players will be employees of the school, that is they way this is all heading.

However with the current system in place, not sure what you guys were expecting once Nick retired.

I'm a heavy lean to give up my long-time Tide Pride seats. Let some people on that long wait list have a chance. One thing I'd almost bet my last dollar on is that that Tide Pride waiting list will not exist much longer.

Not me! I got too much Bama in me! I’m happy with the new coaching staff and looking forward to the spring game. Bama will be back! RDT!

I’ve done a LOT more Fall fishing the last three years. I no longer plan my Saturdays around football. It’s unfortunate.

The waiting list had pretty much vanished already.

However nobody wants those tickets in the upper endzones

I don't know how much reform there will be. The courts will probably strike down most efforts to curtail this. The toothpaste is out of the tube and it's probably not going back in.

I'm still all in with Alabama, but what we have now isn't good for college football. I know our rivals are laughing at us, but this same situation could arise for any team.

This is why Saban retired. He didn’t want to deal with this shite and I don’t blame him. These players for all we know was leaving anyway if the money wasn’t there

It’s not they have contracts and salary caps. What CFB has become is unsustainable.

I’m not overreacting at all. I am simply following the progression that I have been on since the playoff was implemented back in 2014. Look back through my post history and you will see this has been building for me for some time.

I don't really like the direction college sports has turned to as well. It benefits schools like Texas and Texas A&M with huge oil reserves to buy players. Saban saw the writing on the wall.

There are plenty of fans that will take your season tickets.

Every game at BDS will be a sellout this season. And the year after that, and the year after that, ad infinitum. Guaranteed.

If this is true, thanks for the memories, coach. Nick Saban isn't ALABAMA. You know why? Because fans loved BAMA when BAMA was 3-8. I have loved watching BAMA play all my life, and that will continue until I'm dead or they don't play anymore.

I liked when cokes were $0.50/can, but I still drink 'em and always will.
