re: If Milroe was the starting QB, based on his speed, would you modify or change the offense

plus Ty's father is a coach so he has probably been a gym rat of sorts as a FB player. I Also see Ty as our starter as the year wears on in 2023 with Milroe starting game one and both getting plenty of snaps with the ones

Mac Jones had pretty elite pocket awareness
I didn’t hear anybody praising Mac’s pocket awareness when he was throwing the ball to Auburn. Milroe has game breaking speed. You don’t coach that either. I’d argue his pocket awareness is pretty good too. He really seems to know when hang in and when to tuck it and run. He needs better command of the offens
Please, as I recall Mac threw 2 interceptions in the Auburn game, one of which bounced off the receivers hands. Mac's accuracy, pocket awareness, and consistency were the best I have seen in over fifty years of watching Alabama football. Jalen Milroe undoubtedly has athletic ability, speed, and a very strong arm. He looks like he has improved from last year, let's hope he continues to progress.

I still can’t understand why we didn’t use him for about 15 plays in the National Championship as a RB or WR since we were so short on talent. His speed could’ve really helped.

I really don't understand the knocks on Milroe's passing thus far. He has looked fine to me. I've never watched Milroe make a pass and thought "damn this dude cannot throw, and is very inaccurate."
I did. he waited too late and made a terrible throw to a wide open Leary for a TD against Utah State. The play was wide open but he tossed up a wounded duck which was intercepted.

They'll coach Milroe up. And he'll be lights out.
You're forgetting the most important element. Bama doesn't have Sark or Kiffin anymore and BOB is not gonna coach anyone up to be "lights out."

We were short on talent. We were short on intelligence from the OC position.
We still haven't used him this season. In fact we are really just starting to use Gibbs skillet, so I should be happy BOB can do that.

Man the more I look back at Milroe's snaps at A day and this season the more I think the kid has an incredibly high ceiling, next level dual threat potential. He is running 3/4 speed (or looks that way) gliding past people. Looking back at his snaps I think the negativity on his passing accuracy is overstated too. I know others don't see it but man it looks different to me. I think a good OC whether here or elsewhere is going to turn him into a monster.
I think Milroe, Miller and Henderson in the backfield with guys like Bond, Anderson, Prentice, Preston and Hale would be bananas. Add a vertical threat TE to that and that is just insane. I would love to see him helm an offense wherever it is.

He is very talented and brings that dimension to the game that you can’t coach . He can be very good

No fanbase does "Which one of our exceptional backups is better?" quite like us. It's probably a little obnoxious. I'm oddly ok with it.

It definitely is. And since Blake Sims was brought up in this thread-I remember when people said that exact same thing about him before he won the starting job, even though Blake also passed the ball fine whenever he got the chance as a backup and in A-Day game, and his stats always proved that. Yet, people acted like he couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. And then of course 2014 happened.

Why do we assume they're going to develop into a great passer? Theres so much instinct and natural ability that doesn't just develop because you want it to, or because it would be awesome if it did.
We shouldn't assume it will happen, but it's not that rare for it to happen if you have the tools. It happened for Blake Sims and Jalen Hurts.
I understand if the take is that we can't be patient when we have someone more ready to play, but it's not like there aren't plenty of examples of guys growing into great passers over time.

I was a Blake fan, but he was worse than wretched in the 2014 A-Day game. But other starters had been bad too, though Blake was another level of bad that day. Good thing I had begun to realize a few years earlier that A-Day didn’t really mean anything. It was still a bit disconcerting. Then Blake delivered big time.

have you thought the same thing about BY9 at the start of last season and this one, when he completely missed wide open receivers? or, are you simply holding milroe to a higher standard than BY9, hmm...
