Missouri also has a sneaky good QB in Shawn Robinson. Young man is tough & efficient. Completed 19 of 25 with a TD against us.

I was really impressed with Missouri considering the circumstances.

They didn't make many mistakes, looked comfortable in a brand new offense, and had some players. If we had come out duck farting around that would have been a close game at halftime. They didn't hand us anything offensively, we had to execute.

I wouldn't be surprised if Missouri beats Tennessee. Missouri has some NFL guys on that defense.

Nor would I, even in Knoxville. I think Missouri is going to play a lot better. I also believe their coach is actually pretty good. As long as Guarantano is the vols best option I think it's certainly doable.

Missouri kind of surprised me. I thought like Georgia their QB situation would get away from them. The RB 34 was a stud. He laid the wood several times on our defense. I think that team with some time will win plenty of games down the stretch, UT had an absolute slug fest with SC and I’m not sure they are that good.

I wrote this up about him at the end of last year. And I stand by it. If anything he confirmed my thoughts on him.

quote:

I think he would started for more than 90 D1 teams this past season. Has good size, solid frame, goes through reads well, slides in the pocket and feels pressure far better than he should with limited experience, has a very good arm and solid release, can also make very accurate throws from different release points and lower body platforms while evading pressure, very good footwork in the pocket. Yeah, yeah....he threw a pick six under pressure, but go back and watch his other snaps against AU. There were several plays where he delivered an accurate throw either under duress or while moving in the pocket.

Barring injury, Jones will be a second round pick, or better.

The Mizzou head coach believes in the run game and mentioned his one regret was not getting his best back into the game more often. Makes me believe that the tigers and vols will look a lot like each other Saturday. Guarantano is still holding the ball and that might not translate vs the Mizzou defense. Should be fun to watch.

I was at the massacre of Louisville in Orlando. Mac came in and threw a beautiful corner route while getting absolutely blasted with a rusher right in his face. Just dropped it right on the money. I knew right then we had a keeper.

The guy is far better than AJ. AJ didn’t make those types of throws, AJ just didn’t make mistakes really.

Mac Jones will start in the NFL one day and will play for a long time.

Eh, AJ made some great drop it in the bucket throws. He also had 1 legitimate NFL WR in his 3 years - Coop. Mac has 2 of those guys this year, plus another one in all likelihood in Metchie.

I'm not ready to go that far.

You’re the guy who was whining about Mac starting over Bryce because you’re already certain Bryce is going to be a 1st round pick.

Yeah it's hard to say after a small sample size that Mac's arm stronger than AJ. Those early Saban teams rarely ran deep outs or dig routes. More hitches, curls, screen passes and the deep shot when we got to the 50.

I don't but he does throw a better deep ball. Mac is money on the long passes.

AJ didn't have a great deep ball. Constantly underthrow on the deep ball. Had he hit Kenny Bell in stride late in that 12 A&M game, it's a touchdown instead of 1st and goal.

100% does.

Pure arm strength, no one can touch Coker from the Saban teams. Dude could throw it out of the stadium. But I'm pretty sure Mac is second.

Sims had a semi-decent arm, so did Tua. But they both had to get behind a ball to push it past 45-50 yards. McCarron and Hurts are both in that tier too. Hurts and Sims lead this small group. Tua usually had the best velocity on shorter stuff though.

JPW was behind all of them in arm strength.

Greg was dead last, let's be honest.

I said it last year after he took over when Tua went down, he does some things better than Tua, he hangs in the pocket, he moves and steps up in the pocket better, uses his height ect.

I had never heard of the wing T before this. Surprised people still use it. I guess it would work well sometimes as not many teams prepare/know it.

I think when all is said and done, Bryce Young will be one of our best ever... and one of the key factors being, Mac Jones stepping up and being awesome; as throwing a freshman with no summer or fall practice to adapt, right into the fire could have destroyed him.

The Gus Bus believed in it and used it with Cam Newton and Nick Marshall a lot.
