Die, will someone kill this thread... Make it go away! The obsessions over Milroe is unhealthy.
The fact people find a way to discuss Milroe almost every week is concerning.
Bury it.
Kill it.
Quit making all of us suffer. It's not fair.

quote:I don’t know about others, but I’m no longer angry at the guy or anything. It’s just an off-season thread discussing where the most recent QB ranks among the QBs of the last 30 or so years
When are we going to stop obsessing over this guy? He’s gone and 100% of the fanbase and players are glad about it. Let it go.

It's the off-season. We don't have another on-field starting QB to talk about yet.

Watch some 2014 games the other day. Used to think Sims and Milroe were similar. It is actually jarring seeing a football get thrown in rhythm and on time
I’d take every Saban era starter not named JPW

I'd take 2008 JPW over Milroe in a cocaine heartbeat.

People saying he's at the bottom are just being obtuse. The problem was inconsistency. He obviously was better than Tyler Watts. Now, Tyler Watts had some good games, but he wasn't a better QB than Milroe. Milroe gets a lot of hate because he shite the bed in some big games.

So the players ineligible for this discussion are the following:
Marc Guillon
Spencer Pennington
Brandon Avalos
Cooper Bateman
Blake Barnett
Tyler Buchner
technically, Blake Barnett was a starting QB and not because of injury.

Here’s the sad fact: for one half against Georgia and a couple of games against LSU, he looked like he would belong in the top half of that list. The potential there makes you salivate. But the other 98% of the time, the argument is how far from dead arse last do you rank him?

He’s still the most recent QB to complete a pass in a game for Alabama and until that changes, he will be discussed.

Croyle also couldn’t stay healthy and didn’t play like a superstar when available.
Go watch his OL against the elite SEC teams and the answer as to why will be glaringly obvious.
We had guys starting up front who shouldn't have been on the field at Troy with very little depth behind them due to sanctions.
From an arm talent standpoint Croyle was right there with the elite guys we had under Saban, he just wasn't mobile and the playcalling was beyond vanilla so when the pass rush won up front as it almost always did against LSU or Auburn we were done.
As for the Milroe question Im taking him above Zow, JPW and Watts.

watts would proly be the only one i'd rank milroe ahead of.

He right at the Blake Sims line. Not sure if he's better of worse than Blake. If Lane is his OC he'd have made all the reads and calls for Milroe and we'd be likely watching him go off the board in the first round of the draft this year instead of Dart.
From a talent and athletic ability standpoint he at the very top of the list, from a QB position standpoint he's in the bottom quarter somewhere.
All that said, there's a good chance that when we see his NFL tape he'll look amazing. They'll have a specific role and set of matchups for him and have a ton of time to develop him. The multiple OC's, and the lower quality of them during his time at Bama and additionally the change of staff didn't do him any favors. He'll likely do things in the league that we could only dreamed he would have done in Crimson.
