This year or looking forward?

Burrow was incredible, but he didn't just magically get that way. They clearly have good teachers on the offensive side of the ball. And their receivers are incredibly talented, as was CEH.

Team interests aside, I'm very curious to see what Year 2 with somebody else looks like. Obviously it won't look like this year (but who would have expected this year either, honestly), but they will still have a very solid offense. They have talented backs, will have the best WR corp in the country and run a good scheme.

So, my guess is they'll still be very good, but the total perfection that was Burrow in 2019 won't be there, and my guess is that shows a few more cracks (offensive line, as a prime example).

I think SEC defenses, many of which, are young will do better with LSU's offense going forward. Also, many don't mention how experienced Burrow is. Burrow is a senior having already been a part of OSU's program before coming to LSU. Experience is critical. With that said, I do believe LSU's offense takes a step backward regardless of who is the QB and I do believe SEC defenses will be improved.

While true, he also had possibly the greatest junior to senior year jump in the history of college football. Part of that is going back to a system he's comfortable with, part of it is a testament to him working his arse off, but part of it is also that their coaching staff did a great job.

Brennan is going to be basically like Mac Jones this year for them. He's been there a while, won't be shell-shocked and my guess is is pretty comfortable in the system. We'll just have to wait and see how good he is.

Coordinators will have a year's worth of film to study and should have a better idea of how to defend them next year. More experience and depth on Alabama's defense will help in 2020. It was just a perfect storm of injuries, youth, bad coaching by Golden and mistakes by Alabama as well as LSU finally putting it all together. I'm very interested in seeing how 2020 unfolds.

I actually thought Burrow was pretty damn good last year. I know he had some bad moments but I thought he was very solid.

O isn't sold on Brennan yet.

Yea, agree. I thought he'd be a really good player this year, though obviously not THIS GOOD. He was put in awful spots last year in a predictable offense with a bad offensive line. It felt like every throw he made was a drop back pass on 3rd and 8 or something.

Yea - I'll be curious to see how that plays out. He's their guy, because they cannot take a grad transfer (they had one this year who left early or something and the penalty is you are banned from taking one in the next 12 month cycle).

I'll add this little tidbit about Burrow. He's obviously a grad student as a grad transfer, but one of the talking heads on either TV or radio said he only had a couple of online classes during football season so Joe was spending hours a day in the football complex watching film every day. It would explain a lot of the transformation if his "major" has been football and breaking down film since the summer.

We have no idea, as he stayed healthy and his backup got no meaningful snaps. They had four tight games (Texas, Auburn, Florida, Alabama) you have to assume they would have lost at least half of with an average SEC starter under center.

At least Cam reportedly went class. Burrow hasn't set foot in a classroom this entire season.

Burrow was average last year, hard to give him all the credit this year.

Just like seeing what Mac Jones surrounded by weapons I wouldn't be surprised for LSU to stay as a top 10 offense next year.

That being said with a marginal defense and a couple breaks not going their way more than likely a 10 win team in 2020.

I mean, in this hypothetical, Bama probably wins the Iron Bowl had Mac Jones started the season from day 1. By the time we get to the Iron Bowl, Mac has enough playing time that it's doubtful he throws the 2 picks that he did.

Better Question, how good would Burrow without Brady

This is how I feel. I don't see Burrow throwing many difficult passes in that offense. I mentioned that once before and I was excoriated.
