I like Clemson approach though ... make Burrow throw quick , Good or bad and live with it. Can’t let him sit there

At the half, they’ve done about the same as we did, and maybe even less.

Because they blitz at least one guy every play.

Kevin Turner's son Nolan has played a really good game so far. The kid from Vestavia is not the best athlete on the field but I have not seen him out of position a single time.

It has been stated a few times, but we switched to a nickel defense in the second half of that game.

Saban breaking a headset also helped things.

Venables is calling a variety of blitzes. Using his LBs well to pressure Burrow.

Clemson sacked Burrow 5 times...we sacked Burrow 5 times when we played 'em as well...

That's a disingenuous way to look at it. If you watched last night's game and couldn't tell Burrow was affected by Clemson's pass rush, then you weren't paying attention. I don't think we affected him that well. Further, that pass rush forced Emsinger and Brady to change their plan a little. I doubt they ever intended to run empty back sets all night, but that's what the ended up doing to spread Clemson out and make Burrow's pre-snap reads a little easier.

Burrow is a special player. A lot of QB's would have wilted under that pressure, and he just kept plugging along and trusting in his ability and his system.

Honestly, when they kicked Kalski out of the game, their pass rush was basically non-existent. They blitzed LSU on almost every play, mostly with that guy, and he was able to get pressure on Burrow. When he went out, it was game over. LSU would've won anyway, but that made it much easier for them.

We didn't affect him as early in the game as Clemson did, but we shut out LSU in the 3rd quarter and were one missed tackle on a 3rd & 10 play in the 4th quarter from getting the ball with a chance to take the lead...there were several other plays where we pressured him, but he escaped it. And we sacked him 5 times despite not having two of our best defenders (Moses and Ray); I think Clemson's D was relatively healthy...

Which is kinda my point...Clemson sacked him 5 times and so did we...we both generated pressure against Burrow and it didn't matter in the end...

I agree that our D had trouble generating a pass rush for most of the season...but that's not what beat us against LSU. Aside from the last 4 minutes of the first half, we got beat because Burrow was unrattled by the pressure, even when we got to him, and was uncannily accurate with his reads and throws...and we couldn't tackle Edwards-Helaire…

Don't get me wrong, I love Venables as a DC...but he obviously didn't have the answer for Burrow...

Alabama sacked Burrow the same amount Clemson did. 5 times.
