I genuinely can’t tell if we push the ball deep out of playcalling or panic on Milroe’s end. Similar to Texas, we’re struggling on offense and suddenly just start slinging it deep
It still seems like the middle of the field is no man’s land for us. At some point we have to establish that

dk maybe I am remembering that first half differently than reality, I just thought that there were several plays where he held onto the ball too long and had a lot of lost yards. It seemed like he was still having trouble staying calm in the pocket, and stepping up, and making errant throws.
He was by no means perfect today but he didn’t make terrible plays outside of the int. He made normal QB mistakes. He was mostly solid today.

People are still mad at Milroe? The gap between Milroe and the other two is huge.

Was the 2 point conversion a designed pass play or a QB draw? If it was a pass play, that speaks to some of the confidence they may be gaining in Ty. In no way am I making a case for him to be the starter, but that was a huge play. If they were going ti let him throw, that’s a good sign in his development.

This offensive output won’t cut it all year but it was good enough tonight. Happy for the Win and that milroe made some good throws in 2nd half. However like MTSU this game isn’t a high water mark for competition we will see

Lot of clean pockets today. Wonder how Simpson would've fared out there.

Milton’s stats looks decent, and he gutted out the win, but he still has most of the same issues. Rolls right out of cleans pockets, chooses bad running lanes and has at least 2 WTF were you thinking throws each game. One that Bond went full stretch on a ball throw way behind him saved another INT. He won me over a little with his grit today, but we aren’t winning out unless he plays worlds better.

I see Milroe as a very flawed player, but if Ty Simpson went 17/21 for 225, 1 td, 1 int there would be a lot of posters on this board declaring him as our savior.

All that matters in this game is that he out played the opposing team QB.

Milroe has it bad because he's a project QB with a piss poor OC. If he had Sark or Kiffin or any competent OC he'd look better.

Milroe did play better after the interception

So, Milroe wasn't perfect today and yet folks still want Simpson ?

Not me. I say bring in Tyler Watts.

Prefer Star Jackson over Tyler Watts.

Milroe didn't play perfectly by a long stretch but outside the bone headed INT, I thought he played fairly well. Showed a lot of balls on that TD throw knowing he was going to get drilled and got the pass off.

That was actually on Bond. Milroe threw to a gap in the zone that Bond should have sat in
Not gonna be many times that Milroe takes advantage of a zone so sad to see one get wasted

imjustafatkid: Agree. Third and nine at the nine and I said to the TV: Milroe, you've got three points in the bag so do anything just don't throw an interception. And guess what, Milroe threw directly over the head of a wide open Burton into triple coverage resulting in an interception in the end zone. I was simply stunned, could not believe what I had just seen. Saban has decided to stick with Milroe but I believe this will cause us to lose at least two more games this season. I will always support Saban but with Milroe he is pushing a large bolder up a mountain.

quote:Of course it is impossible to say, but based on the little evidence we have, he would have likely struggled since he often holds the ball too long. Looks like he does not read the field and/or defense too well or just freezes at times. He looks like he would be a little overmatched by SEC level competition. Thankfully, Milroe is playing reasonably well, but more than that he is improving half by half. Maybe in a few more games TS will be a decent backup if disaster struck and JM got hurt.
Lot of clean pockets today. Wonder how Simpson would've fared out there.
E.g., you could see that they had talked to him at the half about throwing the ball away rather than running OOB 2-5 yards short of the LOS. He also started locating his check downs much better in the 2nd half.
JM is growing up before our eyes, he's now the 16th ranked passer in the country, 3rd in the SEC. Against ranked competition he is the 8th ranked passer in the country, #2 in the SEC just a few points behind #1. I know all of the Bama fans on the SEC rant want to congratulate JM on his play thus far.
