Where the frick do schools find these morons? You rip a player's helmet off, you're just asking to get fired. And with it all on video. What a fricking dumbass.

A whole lot of Hoover players are tweeting about this. I don't see any who support firing these coaches.

Players are kids who generally don't immediately think of the ramifications of a big lawsuit. You grab a players face mask and jerk it or rip it, you risk a neck injury.

The video does cut off quickly. Maybe the coach is in the process of jerkimg him up to his feet.

The idea that a football coach is out humping players that are knocked to the ground is bizarre, but I've learned almost anything can happen at a football practice.

The video that is supposed to show "humping" clearly cuts off right at a moment that we're supposed to believe shows "humping." I have to believe that is taken completely out of context.

There's not much context that could help explain what that coach was doing to the player on the ground.

If you put your genitals (even if clothed) against a minor's head (even in a helmet) and pelvic thrust repeatedly, you're losing your job minimum. Probably you're freedom. Miss me with the "but the context" bit. If I was that kid's parent, I'd be gunning for the coach being brought in on sexual harassment, if not assault charges.

I don't see humping happen at all in the video that has been shared so far.

Yes you do. You're just being disingenuous.

It's not a thing. Nobody outside of Hoover cares if Hoover is the top program in the state. Central PC and Thompson will probably continue to be top dogs for several years. Central currently has the best coach in the state. Thompson has a QB who led them to a 7A state title as an 8th grader, and has 3 more years.

Thompson or CPC being relevant doesn’t register at all nationally compared to Hoover. I hated what Propst built but you had to respect the dominance. Cover of SI, show on television - everyone in Alabama was getting their arse kicked by them and that’s why most don’t mind watching them struggle. There has never been a high school team from Alabama more relevant nationally than Hoover and them being a contender elevates everyone else.

Gilmer was called in to a meeting with the AD at 3:45. I assume for his termination, but I haven't seen any reports.

Oddly, the players seem to overwhelmingly want him to stay, despite his grotesque behavior.

They should sue all of the hoover boosters that lobbied the school to delay their response to the incident. Take their shite.

From what i'm hearing this isn't this coaching staff's first incident. Sounds a lot like a certain athletic department and their funders ignored due diligence that was performed.

That's cash.

thank God this is a free country where the people who impeded such oversight can be held fully responsible.

These are adults. They need to act like it. If they don't have enough self-control to do so, they don't need to be working with kids.

If someone did that to my son, I'd beat their arse, coach or not. I've got an uncle who missed out on a scholarship because he broke multiple discs while playing in high school. There's a lot of things you can do, but don't frick with someone's neck.

It's not that odd. We obviously don't know the dynamics of this player's relationship with the rest of his teammates, but these are teenage boys, and it's not like its uncommon for teenagers to exhibit a pack mentality on one another when bullying takes place.

Many of them defending the coach may view the act as a simple joke, as "t-bagging" has been a regular humiliation tactic in gaming for over a decade. They need to learn that this kind of behavior is not acceptable in real life under any circumstances really, let alone from an adult on a minor.

People will tolerate all types of behavior if the end result is winning. I saw this first hand on the team that I played for in high school. You wouldn’t believe the stuff that I saw happen that would never in a million years happen without consequences in today’s world. There was a culture of silence in the locker room.
