Not arguing that Milroe is a better qb than AJ-that'd be dumb

There was a thread on here in the run up to the Rose Bowl where the question wasn't if Milroe was better than McCarron, but how much better he was. Lol

The MSC will surprise you with just how good he is,

One QB has 3 NC rings (1 as a RS) and the other doesn't.

Not one lie was told n the story. So frustrating to watch and then to watch us stick with him.

His athleticism is truly elite and it buys him a lot of favor. It just seems like he selectively uses it when he needs to buy himself more favor, not all the time

when milroe is bad he is just pathetic and when he on fire he is as good as Tua

His range is very wide.

Inconsistent is the best way to describe

No self-respecting Alabama fan should ever disrespect AJ McCarron by even slightly implying fricking Jalen Milroe is in the same league as him. We’ve had more talented QBs, better NFL prospects whatever. But AJ is THE QB of the Saban dynasty to me. And he can say whatever he wants about the program, especially when it’s the TRUTH!

This is wild. Tua was as accurate and had the anticipation of some of the greats in college football. Milroe, while he is good when he is on; can’t come close to Tua passing a football.

Tua was better as a freshman in high school than Milroe is now.

One of Jalen's biggest problems is that the one thing he needs to be average at to really unlock everything in his skillset is something he's terrible at - the read option. If Jalen was average at making the read on the shotgun read play, it would completely change the way you could play offense. But he's so bad at it that we (a) rarely run it (this year or last) and (b) defenses don't change anything because they know 75% of the time he'll make the wrong read.

He's a QB that was built to play in a spread power run offense (like Gus') - good deep ball thrower, elite speed, big and durable - except that he is awful at the one key play that the entire offense is based off of.

Yup, if this guy could read it...the tailbacks would eat...the defenses would start creeping up to play the run, WRs hit big plays on posts and square-ins.

Hurts made a lot of money accepting this truth.

Hurts had already progressed more than Milroe at this same stage though.

Milroe's completion percentage this season is higher than AJ's ever was while QB at Bama, and last year was about the same as AJ's first year as a starter.

You can’t compare passing stats across generations like this. Because of all the rule changes to outlaw physicality in the secondary, completion percentage is up across in the board.

When AJ was playing, there would be 2 or 3 guys that would just break 70% completion percentage in a season - almost all non-BCS AQ conference players. Now there are usually 7 to 10. Hell Dillon Gabriel who isn’t even very good is near 80%.

Dan Marino never broke 60% at Pitt. Do you Milroe is more accurate than him?

It’s the same reason the best receivers we grew up with these physically imposing monsters- TO, Irvin, etc. Now they are these basketball player lanklets.

Which is why Saturday (and SC to a lesser extent) was surprising. He generally hasn't been that inaccurate, especially this season.

It’s surprising in that sense that Milroe was missing by miles, but he’s almost always missing in terms of balls being low or away or forcing guys to stop on their route. The only ball he consistently throws well is a sideline deep ball.

The man literally beat UGA, became the Heisman front runner, and a possible top 5 NFL pick one week and then goes out and loses to VANDERBILT the next week.

He is a man full of contradictions. Highs as high as you'd ever hope, lows lower than any QB since Brandon Avalos.

He really is. His best asset is running but he’s not natural at it. He’s built like a tank but shys away from contact. He seems like a smart kid but has trouble processing things in the moment. He can throw it over a mountain but can’t make intermediate throws. Great ambassador for UA but also seems to think/act he’s accomplished way more than he has.

He’s an enigma.

durable

By durable, do you mean he isn't injury prone? While that is certainly true, this guy who last year completely TRUCKED defensive backs and even linebackers, is now knocked down by the wind
