I cant comprehend how the OL we've watched all season suddenly looked like a competent well coached unit vs one of the best fronts we faced all season.

1. What did Pendry do, and can he stay on through the playoffs ?

2. Seth seems to have finally solidified the middle of the OL which is something that was killing us. He identified the correct fronts, and got the OL playing together without confusion. Seth actually manages to get to the second level, and plays with a nasty that his been greatly missed. Will this coaching staff go full ret@#d, and plug Dalcourt back in ? Surely not.

3. Did anyone notice our plan vs their ILB blitz was to form a wedge with the guards blocking inward ? Seth, Cohen, and Emil created a wedge directly in the middle of the OL, and it worked flawlessly. Not only did we pick up their blitz, but the more guys they brought the harder it was to get through because of the wall that was created at the wedge point. lol I cant say I've ever seen a Bama OL deploy that technique before- was that Pendry saving the day ?

4. If so what does this say about Marrone ? Even worse than we could have imagined ?

5. All the people that said "we dont have the talent," do you see now what happens when the coaches get guys playing proper technique, and give them a scheme that gives them a chance ? Looking a lot more "talented" now, eh ? Coaches have to coach and develop... period.

6. Again Seth McLaughin saved the day. Cohen and Emil both looked better with a serviceable center in the middle... imagine that.

7. Chris Owens - I still look forward to the day you are no longer playing RT, BUT I love the heart. I love the will to compete. I love the fact you go out there, and give your all. Give us two more performances like that, and you go down as a fan favorite thanks to the gritty display... the "want to" overcoming physical limitations would be one of the best stories of the season.

8. We finally ran left, and Evans responded by playing his best game of the year.

9. We finally ran left and utilized our only dominant OL

10. We finally ran left. We finally ran left. We finally ran left.

I think they heard all the talk about Jordan Davis and how UGA was going to obliterate them and chose to man up.

Or we increased the deer antler injections tenfold.

The one thing I can assure you of is that Marrone didn't fix it and someone stepped in on the offensive gameplan and play calling too.

Well to be fair that was the other half of the rumor-

Joe Pendry was called in to assist with the OL, and Dan Mullen was in the building to help with the gameplan.

In other words it's possible Pendry and Mullen bitch slapped Bob and Marrone, and transformed the offense in a week.

We've been running on left side. SOG touched in that. Runs on left and right side had been balanced all year long.

I think that's what the complaints were for.

That's pretty normal, you run too much left and they will overload you. Still have to maintain balance, and the YPC wasn't bad to the right either.

I don't think a week changed anything, a great game plan was put in place. Pendry may have given an extra set of eyes, but wholesale changes don't happen that fast.

Watch from 2nd half Auburn and on, they tossed a lot of RPO out the window and started using short passes in place of runs out of empty. Whether that was because of the RB depth I'm not sure, but they kept doing it with UGA. Also seemed there was a big uptick with motion too.

Both backs also did a phenomenal job in blitz pickup vs UGA, Sanders saved the day on a play helping Owens clean up a block.

They sure did talk this guy up pre-game. To be fair, he is a giant and looks the part but I peeked him several times during the game and from what I saw he could only go full out two consecutive plays. Otherwise he was sucking wind or headed to the sideline.

Not sure how true the Mullen rumor is. He was on the SEC pre-game show really pushing the idea that Georgia would beat us.

Looked like to me that Georgia either didn't have the confidence to hold up on the back end or thought they could pressure with 3/4.

Either way they didn't bring the same outside pressure schemes that Auburn and LSU did.

We know Kirby hates to blitz, hard to believe he just sat back after watching the film

If BoB gets hired as a head coach somewhere, I would be perfectly happy with Mullen as OC.

They definitely didn't try to overload gaps like 2-3 other teams have done with good success.

It was really bizarre, A&M handed you a blueprint.

There are some wonderful stunt pickups by Ekiyor and Owens against UGA, Really fun OL game to watch considering they have so many top 30/60 picks on that front 7. Davis gets the publicity, but Wyatt is better and Carter will be better than both.

AND BAMA STONED THEM.

I doubt the rumor is true but if I just went into incognito mode to help the opposing team that’s exactly how I would act.

Pendry is on the staff as "special assistant to the head coach" and I think has had that title since he gave up his on-field role. So he's around. I wouldn't be surprised if he was giving input, but I doubt it was major. Cubelic (love him or hate him he knows OL play) and McElroy went over several things that were different that probably helped the OL at the beginning of their show this morning.

Yes that’s a possibility too but why does he need to hide that he was helping us? He is not in the league anymore plus he is free to sell his services as a consultant to any team.

While I don’t have any inside info or anything, Coach Pendry has “stayed around the program” since his retirement. I actually rode the elevator down with him after one of our home games in ‘19. I asked him about retirement and he said he still likes to “help out when asked”.

The Carter guy is a Hoss

Not that it matters but I believe #17 for UGA would have really helped the Bama defenses these past 3 years had he selected The King instead of UGA. Add in Henry selecting Bama as well that year instead of Jeremy would have been even better.

Stuff happens.
