I heard an interesting comparison of Deboer to Spurrier. Obviously this isnt a personality comparison before some of yall stroke out.

But the comparison is that Deboer's offense really needs a 1000 yard rusher type player...much like Spurrier did. When Spurrier had great teams, he had that. When he didnt, he had just "good teams" that occasionally got the shite kicked out of them

He had a 1,200-yard rusher at Washington when they went to the title game.

A lot of Spurriers backs racked up yardage in garbage time. That said, they at least at a modicum of a running game and weren’t absolutely putrid at it.

90's Spurrier beat the crap out of the SEC, ran up the score and laughed about it. Don't see the comparison. They got whooped by Nebraska but was usually the one doing the whooping.

A 1,000 yard rusher will help any coach be a better coach. That's kind of obvious.

Hopefully we never have a team with a group of RB's this bad.

Did not have a 1000 yd rusher the year he won the natty. Or the year before. Or the year before. Or the year before. Had a two back system that generated yards, but it's not of note to say a rushing game that generates some yards helps a team win more games.

That was the point where he decided they needed a defense. He brought in Stoops and upgraded the talent.

I just want a M Ingram type back. Someone that can block, always get positive yardage, and great ball security.

Ain’t that the truth. One Score DeBoer isn’t worrying about padding stats during garbage time.

I’d settle for a back that could get positive yards.

I literally laid out the very specific comparison, and you ignored it.

I heard this listening to Drew Dearmond who has a pretty good show up in Huntsville.

Youre technically right but they had a dynamic pair including Fred Taylor.

Thats my point, the teams were always good but the teams with the best backs were his best teams.

Yes, that's what we're saying. When you have a very good running game, your offense is much better. You seem to be claiming that a team that is passing only with almost no running game - as Bama's offense this year - has been very good to great and competed for a title. Which team is that?

2001 Florida is the best team Spurrier ever had. That team goes undefeated if Earnest Graham who was a stud forgotten SEC running back doesn't miss the Auburn and Tennessee game.

Auburn took 2/3 from Florida from 1993-1995 and scored over 30 in all three games with a downhill I offense.

Florida didn’t physically beat the crap out of teams,

Didn't Spurrier have a 1 score game vs the legendary mike dubose?

DuBose was 2-1 against Spurrier. It shows you that a record against other coaches isn’t really a true barometer of a great coach. (i.e. DeBoer vs Kirby)

Yea a Heisman winning first round pick would be awesome

A Glen Coffee or Brian Robinson would be huge upgrades. It's pretty sad that we haven't had an NFL caliber starter since Gibbs at a position we should be able to recruit an NFL level player without getting on an airplane.
