So, let's see:
QB/OC- O'Brien
OL-Doug Marrone
WR- Homer Wiggins (I don't see anything on him)
RB- Open
TE/ST- Open

Defense:
No changes there for now.

Eddie Gran is linked to RB job and probably will take it.

I'm curious about TE Spot...

That seems like probably the most likely scenario based on what we know.

I'd be pretty happy with that, as well. Gran and Pannunzio are high level recruiters and Gran, BoB and Marrone are established position/coordinator coaches who have long track records.

I didn't realize that Glenn Schumann's (co DC at UGA) Dad played at UA.

Eric Schumann

I wonder if Saban has considered bringing Glenn Schuman back to Alabama.
Glenn Schumann

Schumann himself went to Alabama. He spent 4 years of undergrad working in football ops and then 3 more years as a grad assistant.

Yep, he has supposedly been back in Tuscaloosa for a few days now (still house a house there). Sounds like he's the guy for the TE/ST coach. He can definitely recruit Florida, so that won't be an issue with him.

We'd have to have a defensive coaching spot open up.

Ok, just don't ever let him call plays.

Ever.

Seems like Saban is going a little more on the older side this go around. Guys he’s more familiar with, who have NFL experience, focus on good developers. Not the hot up and comers who are maybe more recruiting oriented, which is a bit of a turnaround from where we were a few years ago.

All the projected hires so far seem really solid. You wonder about their recruiting a little, but hopefully the TE/ST guy will be an ace recruiter. Can Gran recruit?

Yep. Eric was one of my coaches back in high school way back when. Coached DB's mostly. He was a real good guy but was a mean sumbitch out on the field.

This is kind of a unique time considering that the ncaa transfer rules of 2020 may be extended and may apply to next season as well. In any event I think it's important to get good coaches in as soon as practical. Good is better than quick, but since Sarkisian and two of our coaches are now at Texas, and our 5 star running back and elite offensive linemen brothers are from Texas, it isn't a good time for them to 2nd guess their decisions. Since O'Brien and Marrone are ex NFL head coaches, that should allay any concern for any of the recruits, including the Texas recruits because, after all, the NFL is probably the goal of all these elite players.

It's never a surprise to me when our coaches find head coaching jobs after a year or two. The coaches that replace these guys when they move on may be younger guys that love to recruit, or at least are very willing to recruit.

Anyhow, I think these new coaches will do a great job. I look forward to next season.

What’s the negatives for BoB? One of the writers at RollBamaRoll seems to think he’s a horrible choice for OC. And the writer isn’t a dummy

So the guy says he's horrible but gives no explanation?

O'Brien as far as I can gather is unquestioned in his ability to call an offense. Where he went wrong was as a personnel manager. That's not really an issue at Alabama seeing as how there are no trades or free agency.

Is there an article or something?

I know that his base playbook is old school, super complicated Patriots stuff, but from everything I've read the way things work at Alabama is you come in and accept our base playbook - then you work off of it and tinker with it.

There is zero doubt he's a very good QB coach. That's not even really debatable.

I could maybe see demeanor or something, but I pretty much 100% default to Nick Saban on his ability to (a) decide who fits and (b) make everyone fit.

So, I guess I dunno. I'd be interested to read the negatives and see what I think about them.

A lot of people thought Kiffin and Sarkisian were horrible choices too.

No article yet. But one of the mods over there, he's also the former managing editor, was predicting a minimum of three losses next season if BoB is the offensive coordinator. He said he's got 3,000 words prepared on why it's a terrible idea.

Erik Evans?

Anyway, I'd love to read it. Maybe we're all missing something. Feels like at this point Saban would have earned at least a tad bit of trust on these things that he might understand it all at a bit deeper level than we do.

But maybe not.
