Still want to keep Smith. He can be an all-SEC caliber safety. But Alabama seems to be pushing for Fegans now too.

If the kid doesn't want to play safety, and we don't prefer him at WR, then why waste the NIL and scholly knowing there's a good probability he just dips in a year or two anyway?

And I am not as put off on Coleman as some. Definitely would like to see him flip back. Options getting limited at DL. Seems the portal will most likely be needed there.

I'm not saying the kid isn't a good DL. I'm just not impressed by his approach to recruiting, and perhaps the guidance he's getting. We've seen highly touted players become career transfer portal guys before, so I'm not eager to spend valuable time, energy, and resources on a guy that appears to have what I'd consider red flags in the current environment

I really don't understand why they're so excited about locking down the top talent in the state when their class is still ranked behind ours.

It’s been their narrative ever since Saban started dominating in recruiting. The “we won the state” argument. When you’re pulling in elite players from all over the country, who cares?

I'm still just stunned that Peyton Thorne is going to be their QB. Mother of God, he is hands down the worst QB in the SEC. He's just awful. I pray they keep him as their #1. It won't matter if they have all these amazing WR commits, if there's no one to toss them the ball consistently, it won't matter.

It's apparent they'll have to be wide-arse-open to consistently score on good teams. That could happen, but most realize that's not probable

Keep in mind that this kid lives in Selmont. If Selma is Mogadishu, Selmont is Baghdad. It’s one of the most impoverished areas in the country and this kid probably grew up without a pot to piss in

Knowing that, and seeing the pic of the stack of bills he left AU with, the flip was inevitable. That probably means that some upfront cash can flip him back, if we're still after him.

When kid can pull $5,000-$10,000 cash just to visit a school + $$?$$ right when they publicly flip & commit to a school, I can't blame a guy from Southside Selma HS from getting whatever he can get.

As long as Hugh is still developing and coaching them I am extremely unconcerned.

In general, where is this coming from? I’m not talking about Alabama or Auburn specifically here. I see opposing fans posting this as well.

It’s either “_____ paid player x not to visit _____ “ or “_____ paid player x to visit.”

Auburn fans were talking about how much Alabama paid Cunningham not to attend Big Cat Weekend and that just doesn’t sound right or even close to being legal within NIL (or maybe it is legal, I don’t know). Either way, I doubt all of these colleges are paying tens of thousands of dollars just to attend or cancel a visit.

This is Derek Smith after leaving BCW.

And no, I have no idea if we're doing it too. I'd like to think we aren't, though. Probably not technically legal without some kind of made-up NIL contract, but at this point, I don't think anyone cares much about that.

Yeah, I’ve seen that. As with anything, there’s no telling where the money came from.

I just find it hard to believe, in Auburn’s case, they’re paying all this cash to secure visits or prevent visits when they wouldn’t even agree to raise their NIL with Juju Lewis when his father countered with a new asking price.

Either way, I hate this new era of college football. NIL, portal, etc. It sucks.

I can tell I’m out of touch with the youth because I’m always confused why they take these pictures at a fricking Shell station. I’ve seen full arse photo shoots flashing money in front of a corvette. Like…ok you’re pumping gas. Is this the best lighting you could find?

Oh god the Nicks thread was bad enough without us getting a commit from a kid named after Barack.

what's sad is we are now recruiting guys young enough to be named after him. Where'd all the damn time go.
