Damn. I really like Coach. You just want him to succeed. You can tell he loves it here and loves the players.

I’m thrilled Bama has him.

CKD basically prioritized Mack over a Heisman candidate in Sayin

Do you dream this up. Every interview out there Sayin said the reason he left was because Saban retired and Saban was the entire reason he came to Alabama. Not to mention the NIL package he received as well form OSU. I will also add that Wiggins was his recruiter and him leaving probably did not help.

I think it’s a fair argument on both sides I do want a kid with immense ceiling and potential, especially at QB to stay in house

I do too. Obviously I like Mack and Russell. I just think the jump from 1st year to second year for these 4th/5th year guys has been incredible. Mac Jones(I realize he wasnt a full year starter before) and Joe Burrow...even to an extent Jayden Daniels are examples of this

I’m not going to argue about who was or wasn’t prioritized because I wasn’t in the room. If you want to believe we went all in on keeping him and he left anyway that’s your prerogative, but I don’t see any evidence that was the case. We had multiple other guys ahead of him in NIL money and on the depth chart and a new coach who probably wasn’t super concerned about the QB3 as he walked into Saban’s office.

The bottom line is he was a 5* QB who was a great eval, left for a big NIL offer and started elsewhere very early.

I expect something similar will happen with Russell if he doesn’t see a clear path to play time and get elite QB1 NIL money here and I certainly don’t think Mack is spending a 4th year on the bench which would leave him only one year in Tuscaloosa as the starter.

Best case we hold onto one.

Does that mean we can’t or wouldn’t win big without them? Absolutely not.

But I do think it’s a hard reality that the coaches are accounting for because if you expect to have a QB room with Simpson / Mack / Russell you probably aren’t bringing in two QBs in this class.

“You just don't know what the future is," DeBoer said. "I always felt like, recruit one every year. You know, you probably lose one, you still got four worst case scenario. I think that's obviously tougher and tougher.”

Yeah, I can’t imagine serving in a military where competency is demanded, wokeness has been tossed, where the taxpayers are no longer on the hook for sex changes of military members, and where women can’t be in combat arms unless they meet the same standards as men. Yeah, that’s terrible.

Lack of war? We will be lucky if we don't fight China this century.

Assuming all of what you said is true, that isht will get flipped back once team blue is back in power. Nah, my issues with our military run deeper than that. If the Fat Leonard scandal wasn't shocking enough...

Anyone got a favorite we should go after in the transfer portal?

Think Coach DeBoer is letting you know that they expect a QB to transfer.

I don't think it is a crazy take even coming from the head coach's mouth. It's the reality with QB depth. You've always got to take 1 or 2 QBs because you're always going to lose 1 or 2 QBs.

I don't know why they would unless they expect Ty to come back. If he declares I imagine Mack and Keelon both stick around to try to win the job. Can't portal after spring ball anymore and we definitely wouldn't name a new starter before then.

I don't think so. Pretty sure LSU will spend whatever. Don't see us doing that

Just looking at the roster I forgot about Beaman. I think he was going to be really good for us. He showed flashes when he got in the game last season.

The portal hasn't really gotten into full swing yet. I think it's January 1 that it opens and holy mother of God, it's gonna be crazy how many players nationwide will jump in.

Sidenote-it always astonishes me how many of these kids get terrible advice to jump into the portal. Most are former 2-3 star recruits who are nowhere near as talented as they've been led to believe.

Personally, I hope we'll bring in an experienced, proven DT, WR and maybe an OL. I know they won't be cheap but we need them. Hopefully, they won't be from some school like Austin Peay.
