It's a mark of high distinction when the dummies try to disrespect the players. Virtually every player you all try to disrespect goes on to the NFL and proves it's the coaching that was the problem.

I know for a fact Golding hasn’t been demoted or relieved of his duties.. he is still recruiting.. Couldn’t do that if he was. Sending texts to highschool players.. I for one am not a fan of him at all. Guys has angus prime filets and turned them into dried out beef jerky. You have to work to not atleast have a decent defense with all the studs. He almost left Saban last year due to personal issues and Saban talked him into staying.. Saban loves the guy but I hope that love is growing thin. If nothing else our players need a fresh start.. a reboot as you can say. They have lost confidence in themselves and the plays on defense. Sometimes you can’t fix that without a change. It can become mental

It’s not a lack of intensity that I see. It’s recklessness.

The Boa Constrictor style, with its mush rush principles, was brilliant and lethal. It all worked marvelously in the 3-4 base era of defensive strategy. But those concepts hate speed and they hate space.

Are you saying the 3-4 base defense is not effective anymore? Some of the NFL’s best defenses still run out of a 3-4 base. Do they tweak it? Of course, but the 3-4 isn’t some ancient out of date alignment. These NFL teams that run the 3-4 are also playing against mobile QBs that can throw much better than the guys Alabama faces, naturally. The 3-4 worked in 2007 when Saban got here and it works today, you just need the right type of athlete (especially at linebacker and safety) and a sound understanding of assignments (at the very minimum).

The Boa Constrictor style, IMO, wasn’t so much of a defensive style of play, but more due to the offensive philosophies in the league during 2000-2010. The defense wore opposing offenses down because they were just better and much more physical than the majority of the other teams around the league, so run-heavy teams would just get dominated/suffocated as the game went on. You just aren’t going to see that anymore. Even garbage teams are going to throw it around and play up tempo (relative to 2000-2010 teams).

You might see the old 3-4 base some the next few weeks. If we actually play. I was pretty specific with how successful we were in our 3-4 base/2 gap/boa constrictor style. Worked great if you want to run 12 personnel or I-formation stuff against us that LSU used to love so much.

We morph off the 3-4 in our nickel and dime rabbit. So which defense are you discussing?

TideSug,

It was lot of stuff going down my timeline and id idn't pay attention to where it came from. I'm guessing with Saban out, someone gotta assist Peter? Saban is peter's "assistant"

If Saban cannot be at the game, would Strong be able to be one of the 9 or 10 coaches allowed to coach at the game?

Interesting in a train wreck sort of way maybe.

Kelly was an abject failure as a DC at FSU.

Gotta think it has to do more of communicating with safeties during the game... If LB and Safety can get on same page, we should be okay.

Where do we stand on this? Any more word on Strong?

So there's a possibility Saban will be incommunicado, Sark will be doing double-duty as head coach and OC, and our DC might not actually be coordinating the defense?

Oof.

Its more about a Long tendency of our defense not adjusting personnel to opponents.

1.We did not have a Xavier McKinney to play more dime, but still run stop capability when teams go one back with 4 wide's.

2.We don't have a Xavier when teams go 3 wide with a pass catching TE and a receiving back like cook.

3. We seem to don't have another CB so we could have maybe moved Jobe inside to play that part.
This shocks me more because having a kid like Eddie smith size or a CB like Armour Davis and
(when healthy Ronald Williams jr to move inside and or play the Xavier McKinney role. Maybe we see that before yrs end.

4.I would think Keho would be better on passing downs with 5 yards or more. But Saban wont pull Moses?
As most teams are not playing both inside lb'ers on every snap and last night UGA was pulling one on all passing downs over 5 yards.

We got after UGA more and I saw kids like moore telling Moses were he should be on passing downs.
I just hope when Williams gets back and Davis is available we solve the Xaver McKinney problem.

Side-note:Our D-line coach did a great job subbing our depth in and out.We played almost everybody we had.

I am really shocked from a more athlete point of view that kids like Eddie smith, kehoe and Latu (TE) are not getting some or more snaps.

The kid played one of his better games as we seem to let him play more down hill.
It cant be lack of talent as everybody wanted him and we beat out OSU.
