The NCAA wants a world where the colleges of the united states are infested with slavs squatting in adidas or puma track suits.

Connected poster on another site says our folks spoke with Sankey before we played Bediako and he was not against it.

Then we need to go public with that info. He gave us a very public black eye. We can’t have a commissioner that acts like that.

really don't care if he doesn't make another one all season if he just gives us 10-15 decent minutes of rebounding and defense.

At this point, it's safe to say it's not happening. I think the guy is fine and OK with his awful play.

.“Alabama has landed Bucknell center Noah Williamson through the transfer portal,” 247Sports’ Brett Greenberg wrote. “The seven-footer and reigning Patriot League POTY averaged 17.4 points, 7.6 rebounds & 1.1 blocks per game while shooting 53.8% from the floor and 31.1% 3PT. MASSIVE pickup.”

Now, that MASSIVE pickup must be producing in a big way for Bama, right? Well, not to throw any shade at the kid, but he’s currently playing just nine minutes per game while averaging 1.2 points and 1.7 rebounds per contest. He earned a consensus four-star portal ranking as the No. 121 available player in the portsal at the time of his commitment.

To clarify, none of this is meant to be a shot at Noah Williamson; he put in the work and was rewarded heavily for it, and is competing on a winning basketball team. This is strictly a message for Big 12 fans to take caution. Portal rankings can be out of whack and way off the mark, or they can be just about spot on. This is just another case study in how what happens during the offseason always looks better until tip-off or kickoff arrives.

I get what your are saying about Noah and his weaknesses. But lets be honest. Without looking at stats I don't recall Charles blocking any shots. Altered a few? yes. He didn't make a shot that wasn't a dunk or free throw. As has already been pointed out, we were net negative points when he was in the game in 4 out of the 5 games he played. We won at SJ and at Ill without him. We are going to be ok.

There’s lies, damned lies, and statistics.

edit to add: this is a saying. Not saying you’re lying at all. It’s an expression basically meaning statistics can often be worse than lies when they don’t tell the whole story. I realized after posting that the phrase isn’t as popular as it once was

Bediako’s impact wasn’t really shown on the stat sheet. But just watching him there was a competency at the position that doesn’t exist anymore. Offensively(screens and dunks) and defensively.

Agreed. Bediako brought a mature steadiness to the team as well. I imagine he probably tought some the younger guys a little about how to prepare and to compete too. I mean, Philon is only a sophomore. Same with Sherrell, IIRC. We have two freshmen that play pretty regularly too.

Apparently, at least by twitter excerpts, Oats called out Sankey in the media appearance today.

He touched on it. It wasn’t really a call out. Hell, for Oats it was like a 3-10. But I appreciate him for having the balls to at least address it

Here’s what I saw

quote:

Nick Kelly@_NickKelly·6h
Asked Nate Oats if it was worth it to bring in Charles Bediako for five games.

Oats: "100%. There was an opportunity to help one of our former players out. He was within his five year window. He's trying to get his degree. Here's the thing too. My job as a head coach is to try to do the right thing by our guys. Charles is one of our guys. That was the right thing to do by one of our guys. Like I've said before, this is not some mercenary deal with a 23 year old coming in for a semester that nobody knows. He was deemed legally eligible to play. We're going to absolutely support him. One of the ironic statements in the affidavit Sankey put was how much of a disadvantage it is to go be a pro and not have to focus on your college. It's not the case. It would be nice if everybody who's commenting, writing, talking about this, actually educated themselves on the reality of the situation. The reality of the situation is, Charles left here with his body looking pretty good at 235. He went to the G League. You don't get the same treatment you do. There's a reason ... there's a lot of G League players trying to come back to college. The money's a lot better. The development is a lot better. You get a full time dietician, full time strength coach, you're not traveling on commercial flights, spending all your time in airports, not being able to develop. Charles actually has lost weight since he went to the G League. His development wasn't what you would think being a pro. You're more of a professional able to focus on getting your body right in college. He's here. He's in school. We're going to help him try to gain weight back he's lost since he was in the G League. We're going to continue to help his basketball development. We're going to continue to help his development as a student, as a student-athlete. 100% it was worth it. I would do the same thing 100 times out of 100 for any of our guys it would have made sense to do it with."

Sankey is a pu__y. Just sucking up to the NCAA Ivy League country clubbers, like completely lost Charlie Baker saying Bediako was taking a spot from a high school player. Bediako is not as a 5th year senior. But there are 100+ international pros being granted 4 years of college by Baker and Sankey. That’s who is screwing over high school players.

The exigencies behind a seeming judicial interest on fire walling NBA players from re-entering is mostly about that fricking with billionaire’s money. Not to sound too tinfoil but I guess I’m just cynical. Law is mostly fake in the US. Even things like robbery or murder comes down to things that have nothing to do with facts. It’s all politics.

I think it was a polite way of saying Sankey is talking out of his arse and needs to shut the frick up. Any HC publicly casting the conference commissioner in even a slightly negative light is ballsy. It was warranted because Sankey is a piece of shite, but Nate is....not a politician. Letting him be the guy who leads the charge on touchy subjects is something Byrne really needs to stop doing. Literally anything he says is going to be twisted around because the man is physically incapable of giving non-answers.

We appeal and hope for a quick ruling.

It is not up to us to appeal. It is up to Bediako to appeal.
