CKD is a fantastic football coach. I want him to be successful here as much as anyone, but there are real questions about his ability to recruit with the big boys. Let’s not pretend those questions aren’t legitimate.

Not really bud. These are kids and a lot of money is in play. I was personally part of an NIL deal with this particular player. So I know for a fact yesterday he wasn’t going anywhere. Bag man strikes again.

In that case, allow me to help you rewrite “he staying” into something a little more accurate with what you’ve said above.

“With what I’ve heard, our NIL collective is heavily involved with trying to keep Downs in Tuscaloosa, and as of right now I’m hearing he’ll stay”

There ya go. Stop speaking in absolutes, it’s burning you a lot.

It ain't a failure on that either.

One day y'all gone realize he wanted to leave regardless.
Can you be more specific or are you guessing?

Is having a couple boosters pool together $500K to get a player really recruiting?

This whole thing is a shitshow. I think we were insulated from this the last couple of years because Saban had the ability to sell himself and that was still worth something to a lot of kids. With him gone we are gonna find out how the other half lives.

This is what opposing fans prayed for years for.

It's still Alabama... and we just hired a coach that took his team to the NC game. These players just love the free agency and getting their asses kissed again like during recruiting out of high school.

Is Michigan hemorrhaging players with Harbaugh out interviewing for every NFL opening? With Michigan facing the NCAA, maybe we can get some decent players from there... assuming Georgia, Ohio St and Texas don't want them I guess.

I was laying in bed sick this morning and was woken up by an ESPN notification about Downs. Good times.

We need a win...a real one in recruiting. You'd think offensive players would be salivating to play in this offense CKD runs.

It would be really great if we could land both Muhammad and Asa Turner (safety) from Washington to come help the DB room since we are so short on experience now.

Well one thing is for fricking sure I’m done contributing, I’m done helping, I’m done getting sponsors. Completely utterly done. I might even say frick my seats and my spots and all that BS. Not worth it. I’ll get tickets if I want to go to a game.

Talk about an overreaction. Doesn't this mean we need more support and help rather than tuck tail and leave over one kid?

None of this is due to failure by CKD or his staff. Period. This is the Mecum Auction version of college football. It doesn’t matter how much you want the player if someone else is willing to outbid you. There’s crazy money being thrown around right now and it would seem that our pockets aren’t as deep as some of the other bidders.

It takes a abundance of elite talent to win in the SEC, this is not the Pac-12.

Saban gave DeBoer the keys to a Cadillac and a sure thing playoff berth next year. All that had to happen was keep the team together.

DeBoer has failed his first task.

This can't be repeated enough. If you can't keep this guy you have failed.

These questions maybe legitimate but we can't say we have answers within a week of employment.

If you want to recruit with the big boys, you have to show up with more than a million and a Lambo.

Flat out, Bama doesn't have those kind of resources. Most schools don't; that's why most of these high name guys are going to a couple of specific programs that have that kind of money. We are a high-level second tier team when it comes to NIL, it's a harsh new reality we have to deal with.

It’s not so much about other peoples money. Yea Alabama has members for every damn state in the country hell they have members that live outside the country and the money is not being spent appropriately. When I joined Yea Alabama I was under the impression it would used to retain the current roster and go towards future recruits and they’re really not retaining anyone! That’s the point. The collective better get their shite together or it’s only gonna get worse. I know one player doesn’t make a team but for shite sakes sometimes folks need to admit that losing someone like Caleb is horrible optics. I don’t like these rules with NIL or the portal no more than most of y’all but damnit we gotta start using the money to our advantage until shite changes. When you pay a collective a certain amount money you expect to see results and I’m not seeing any.

Hopefully we won't have to dip into the portal for Buffalo and South Alabama players to fill out the roster.

Saban had to convince Julio Jones to come to Bama and that was the big win that got recruiting going. Maybe Ryan Williams could be CKD's Julio.
