USC is following the Nebraska path to irrelevancy.

It would be a big downgrade...but Grubb would be an excellent HC for them.

Steve Sarkisian Accuses The SEC Of Cannibalizing Itself With Schedule.........Couldn't agree more

He's not wrong, but what can be done about it at this point? We don't have programs like Rutgers, Purdue, Maryland, Virginia, Syracuse, Minnesota, etc. that are just never ever going to spend big money on their football rosters. You can't stack any SEC team's schedule with a bunch of layups, much less giving multiple teams schedules like that. It's all Sankey's fault.

Riley has taken the idea that defense is optional. He would be OK with his teams scoring big points but also giving up big points. It's almost like he's OK with throwing 11 random dudes out there on defense and hoping that they can maybe get one stop the entire game.

He would get eaten alive in the SEC. We really would be jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire with that guy. Hard pass.

Now, if he wanted to come and be the OC, I'd be good with that.

He would certainly have to be brought in with a high level D coordinator. But that’s the situation we’re in right now as well.

With Saban we had a few bad O coordinators that tanked us. That’s normally how it works. You’re head coach is going to specialize in one side of the ball and you have to pair them with someone on the other side.

Im not saying I hope any of this happens. Im just saying in a scenario where we have a vacancy because of USC I would rather have Riley than Dabo or a lot of the retread names we see. It’s always a big gamble bring in these G5 coaches that have never done it at this level or Coordinators so this is at least a person who is one hard to win destination ago from being the hottest young coach in the country.

It’s like getting Kiffin if all Kiffin did was burn brisket instead of frick coeds and boosters wives.

Riley explicitly said he left in part because he wasn’t happy with the move to the SEC…

If you want a dumpster fire in the SEC, by all means hire Riley. This board will implode like Hiroshima

I appreciate your insight as an Bama/SC fan and you’re one of the most levelheaded posters on this board by far so I take that into account….but everything at SC since John McKay is a dumpster fire except for a small bit of Pete Carroll cheating his arse off.

Multiple examples of guys who were absolute train wrecks for the Trojans were able to have a ton of success other places. Nick Saban even said he was offered the USC job the year Pete took it and turned it down because Sexton told him not to take it because of all the extra bullshite that he knew Saban would hate.

Long article on Delgatty's recruitment.

LINK

“They were offering like an extra $100,000 if I didn’t visit Alabama,” Racin said.

It wasn’t just an offer, it was leverage. Money to limit options, but could end the process early. This is what the new world of college football looks like.

In the NIL era, recruiting isn’t just about selling a program, it’s about building a roster in real time, with money shaping it. Teams aren’t just competing for players anymore, they’re competing to control the process itself.

“The Alabama O-line coach found out I was really thinking about Colorado,” Racin said. “He blew my phone up… blew my parents’ phones up, saying, ‘Why wouldn’t he come to Bama?’”

In press conferences regarding offensive consistency and tough road environments, Deboer said "You have to be able to run the ball... you just need to go play physically."..............I can't buy this rah-rah talk anymore. He lets the opposite take place in front of him every week and I see no change. If he wanted physical, you don't hire a coach that just got fired from his last job because he couldn't establish a running game. He has known Grubb for years. If he can't figure him out by now, he never will. So obviously Deboer is part of the issue.

I suspect he has the "Mike Shula Syndrome"- FEROCIOUS loyalty to your assistants, even if it may cost you your job. I may be wrong but I wouldn't be at all surprised if Greg Byrne tells him Grubb has to go once the season is over. At least, that's what I hope happens.

All I know is DeBoer is the only coach I've seen where the media will be playing segments about how he's struggling to produce in Tuscaloosa one day then attach his name to any theoretical opening of merit the next.

That's Jimmy Business if I've ever seen it. Buddy gonna lose 4 this year and parlay it into another extension. Truly the art of the deal likes of which our own President has never seen.

Or the defense can’t get off the field because teams drive the ball and hold it taking away snaps from the offense.

I was about to say the defense is designed to give up a bunch of yards and plays to avoid the big plays.

It's keeping points off the board but tons of bad offensive teams have shortened the games with ball control.

Our defense plays a ton of snaps because it's basically the philosophy

People talking about replacing DeBoer with Lincoln Riley can't be fans. They are obviously trolls that are only interested in BAMA's demise.

The local radio with Wimp and Barry Sanderson talked all week after the Tennessee game about how the coaches talked in the press conferences on that Monday.

Who gives a shite!? I'm still waiting when all of this coach speak at press conferences transfers to the field.

I don't see any scenario where Lincoln Riley is at Alabama.

For some of these coaches press conferences are about deflecting and/or making themselves look good.

Yeah I mean it’s very very unlikely. It’s just a thought exercise in a scenario where DeBoer did leave for SC because I’m not entirely sure one coach is significantly better than the other.

DeBoer made a championship game once but Riley has been a head coach for longer and is maybe more accomplished long term.

Realistically though, Riley having left Oklahoma for SoCal leads you to believe he’s probably not a live in Alabama type guy. I could honestly see him taking his 100 million dollars and fancy beach house and doing nothing. I think getting the 100 mil and beach house made him stop giving a shite

I’ve about checked out on Deboer, I would all the way check out with Riley as the guy. My choice would be Will Stien; I have a feeling he would be who we would go after too. Aside from that, I would take Sark in a heartbeat if Texas gave him the axe. Outlier if we couldn’t afford those guys would be Glen Schumann. A dream hire would be Demeco; albeit I have no idea how he would recruit and such…I just love Demeco.
