Eh, not melting. I'm sure we'll get some candidate no none has heard of or everyone think is underwhelming, then will wreck shite in the fall and all will be forgotten.

Learned years ago after the Kiffin hiring to not question Saban. Not saying he hasn't made mistakes, but after 5 titles, unless Monday night's game happen in the regular season, it's hard to find anything to question Saban's moves.

2 straight years of what appears to be changes in assistant coaching staff philosophy and a full cleanse of the coaching staff is not a good look and not good for the program.

It just isn't. Hopefully it works out but at best it means last year's hiring cycle was just a total bust. And while people say it all the time, this sort of shite truly is one of the signs of the beginning of the end of a dynasty. Saban was always great at transitioning from one coaching loss to another guy, but we didn't do it well last year apparently and if we don't do it well this year.........well, that's bad.

You can't say it was a total bust when we brought home the #1 recruiting class (or at least we're likely to after NSD2) and made it to the NC.

I know people don't like to hear it, but Saban panicked in the NCG with that fake field goal and I have to wonder if even he is more shaken confidence wise than we would expect from that loss. This all seems insanely drastic from the outside looking in.

Edit: I know my posts are slightly hyperbolic and rile people's feelings up, no I'm not saying that Saban is shook and has no plan, simply that this is all confusing AF from the outside looking in.

You can if Saban decided they were all bums and can't coach football and so we fired them/told them to hit the road/made it clear they failed at their job after 12 months. Turning over entire coaching staffs 2 times in 2 years is a big frickin deal, regardless of if the head coach is the GOAT.

So what does Nick do when his receiver coach gets a chance to be the OC at Go Blue? Do you match 1.5 for a position coach?

How does GT take your OL coach? No way can that be about money if you wish to keep him.

Do you allow Miami to take your QB coach as OC if in fact you wanted him as your OC over money?

These things are odd for sure. I am glad all the players are signed already.

Yea I don't have a problem when coaches like Gattis leave that are taking an obvious promotion. It's the ones that we don't want/let leave in the first place like Key that frustrate me. Why did we hire him in the first place? Obviously you can't make a good hire every time, but this happens far too often. And Enos is just odd. All signs pointed to him being our OC, but if we didn't want that, we had to know he'd be gone in a year.

How about you know your expected OC is on his way out the door and yes you offer him 1.5 and the OC position.

Tim Watts is saying that Chip Long's name is popping up a lot. He was heavily discussed last year. OC at Notre Dame.

Is Saban actually held to a budget, or does he have the authority to pay basically whatever he wants, to whomever he wants?

Why? He's a highly thought of coach and recruiter.

I mean, it's another new name and new guy to rotate through, but he's definitely not a bad option if we are having to replace the OC position again.

Rather go offer the Princeton OC a job over that offense. They were fine, but I was not impressed with how he tried to attack Clemson at all.

I get this...

I get this as well...he's a Tech alum, a friend of Collins, and he got the additional titles of assistant head coach and running game coordinator...

This is a head-scratcher...hopefully we'll find out more details...

Notre Dame couldn't attack Clemson no matter what because Notre Dame's offensive line couldn't block Clemson even for a nanosecond.

I'll be honest I'm worn out trying to look at every possible option for every position and coordinator spot.

Just hire whoever and tell me who it is.

His gameplan did nothing with trying to slow down that pressure. Like SOG I honestly am fine with Long because he is well respected as a coach and recruiter and I'm sure he would do fine with our talent, but I genuinely have never been impressed with his offenses and personally that's concerning to me.
At the same time, he went to UNA, maybe he will have ties that keep him here longer term?

Scheme certainly isn't why Notre Dame lost.

Long runs pretty much the system that Mike Norvell runs at Memphis, I'd have a look there for the direction that Saban is looking to go if he is the candidate.
