I mean honestly I kinda knew the name but had no idea where he coached when his name popped up in the thread so I'm not one to break down his offenses I just know that there was no way ND could matchup with Clemson.

Chip Long. Why did my testicles just draw up inside me. Why is that name so familiar?

If he comes and does a great job I will gladly eat crow, just never been impressed with his offenses. Just my personal opinion though

Same, I would love to eat crow on this entire coaching cycle.

Chip Long would be a really good hire and would stick around a few seasons.

Maybe, or maybe he'd get offered the South Carolina job in 12 months and take it and then we'd be back on the carousal.

Honestly at this point I don't think you can make that assumption about any coordinator we hire.

I wonder what the qbs are thinking, those here and the new guys coming in. I bet Hurts is thinking "time to get the hell out".

I don't think any of them think anything of it other than business as usual.

Why would he say that? It's not like he was staying anyway.

I was wondering if Saban might want to hire James Coley (wiki) as OC. Until I saw this:

nahh. This isn't business as usual even for Alabama assistant coaches and when your OC, your QB coach, WR coach, and OL coach are all departing, and who knows will be coaching them next year, they're not laissez faire about it.

Sean Gleeson (Princeton’s OC) would be interesting. They won the Ivy League I think and they run a similar RPO offense.

Boz said him too and I agree. Dude's offense runs really well, no clue if he can recruit or do it against the best of the best, but I do like offense a lot.

Petrino?

Not a chance. You have to want to recruit to be on a Saban staff, Petrino doesn't even pretend to try.

How pissed are the recruits on the offensive side of the ball going to be? They just committed early and have no clue who is going to be their coach.

I would think Nick can do anything he wants and pay whatever is needed. With that said you only have two reasons for these three guys leaving.

1-Nick didn't want Enos,Gattis,or Key to stay
2-Enos,Key,Gattis all wanted to leave regardless of money.
