My personal sauce said that Simpson had a very good day yesterday but that Milroe was phenomenal. Don’t shoot the messenger

I said it earlier it’s amazing the different perspectives from the scrimmage. My brother had a take, everyone else had a guy.

I’m excited to see this coming weekends scrimmage and maybe get a bead on what is really going on.

I don’t have a favorite or a pick. I literally want the best guy to win. And I don’t watch a lot of videos, etc. on these guys. All I’ll say is that if Milroe is the guy, he has to be a LOT better than what he showed last year if this team wants to win a championship. Maybe he is and has developed that much. If he has, great and let’s roll. But what I saw from Milroe last year isn’t winning a title.

Too much shite flying in direction.

Maybe Saban planned this on purpose to confuse everyone.

Ty Simpson is the only QB in that video to throw a TD pass

Listen...

Leading up to the ADay game there was plenty of folks telling people on this forum how good Jalen Milroe looked. I didn't believe any of it because I wanted to see it. Well, ADay gets here and Jalen Milroe looked exactly how I thought he would.

He couldn't read a simplified defense, he stares down receivers when he throws the ball, and he's inaccurate. So, I'm like all he can do is RUN?

He might have a good game or two vs Nobody but we are going to struggle versus decent defenses. If Jalen Milroe hasn't improved from April and he's our starting quarterback then we are in serious trouble.

Just the honest truth! Agree to disagree

Exactly! I just want somebody who gives us the best opportunity to win a championship.

I think we can learn from Jalen Hurts to have patience with a QB. He was infuriating to watch until the last part of his junior year, then he really started to turn the corner. Now he is a starter for the Eagles. Milroe has at least the tools of Hurts or better.

Agreed, but let’s remember the if.

These guys are young and most improve. Improvement is not always linear, sometimes guys just make a big leap over a course of a few weeks. I have no idea if that’s happened for Milroe but let’s not rule out the possibility until we see for ourselves.

Hurts was a much better overall quarterback coming into college. Secondly, Hurts had Lane Kiffin as an offensive coordinator and QB coach. (Well Proven)

He developed Jalen Hurts & Blake Sims from scratch.

No offense to Tommy Rees but he's not Kiffin. Jalen Milroe has some intangibles but he's not a quarterback yet. From what I've seen.

Funky,

ADay Game Summary:

Jalen Milroe

1 of those touchdowns was versus the third/fourth stringers. Am I lying?

Milroe should've thrown 3 or 4 interceptions as well. Am I lying?

Talk too me Funky!

We will win 10-11 games with Milroe and when a D comes around that is so good and forces the offense to pass, he’ll fail.

Do you want 11 wins and a new Years 6 bowl or do you want a national championship? Ty Simpson is your answer if you want new national championship T-shirt’s next January

One of the most important aspects of a successful passing game and development of a young quarterback is barely even being mentioned.

An effective running game. By nearly all accounts, the running game will be a strength this year and will take a TON of pressure off of whoever wins the competition.

Plus the fact that the short passing game is a staple of Rees' offensive philosophy, again a benefit to an inexperienced QB. Also throw in the fact that the most underused position on the field, the TE will also be a cornerstone of this offense.

Jalen, Ty, Dylan, or Buch isn't expected to be the next coming of Tua or Bryce because they won't have to be.

Personally, I miss the days when Bama lined up and gained 5 yds a run and there wasn't a fricking thing the other team could do about it. There isn't a more demoralizing thing that can happen to a defense.

Whoever can run a full effective offense because that's going to give us the best chance at winning it all.

Wow. Hurts was SEC offensive player of the year his freshman season. I’ve never seen a qb work as hard as Hurts did to improve his passing game. I don’t think Milroe has improved much since he arrived and I certainly don’t expect him to be another Jalen Hurts.

From watching Rees at ND he throws alot to TE’s and RB’s and has QB runs. I think this will eliminate the QB say it’s Milroe to drop back and scan the field for his third receiver. Alot of passes will be 5-10 yards to a TE or RB or the QB takes off.

No contact on qbs in the scrimmages. Totally other situation in a live game vs a good defense

Wow. Hurts was SEC offensive player of the year his freshman season. It wasn’t from passing. And then what happened. He held onto the ball long enough to eat a sandwich and needed to be pulled so we could win a Natty. Point is he took a long time to develop like Sabans cake reference.

The same thing I told y’all a few weeks ago is the same thing I’m telling you now. Milroe has been better than Simpson since April and yes that includes consistently passing the ball. I know some of you have tricked yourself that Ty is the college Tom Brady (some of you were comparing him to Tua and Bryce which should get you banned from the internet) but he’s not, not even close. Maybe in the future he will turn into that guy but he’s not now. Buchner is behind learning the offense and is starting to have turnover issues that he had a ND. He was an insurance plan and a guy that if the first starter stinks it up will then get a chance once he has more time under his belt. Right now Milroe is clearly the guy and is going to start game 1 and 2. What happens after that who knows but get used to it

Most likely scenario - excluding the insider “info”/ wish fulfillment. I expect Milroe to start the 1st game, but I’m guessing either Buchner or Simpson will get meaningful snaps in the first Game or two to see who can take the job. Milroe has the most time in the program and I believe he will be given every opportunity to take the job based on Sabans track record. But he’s going to have to earn it with competition if he’s not clearly #1, Saban will give others a chance to take the job away.
