So what I've learned is it's okay to say Milroe being a starter means we're in serious trouble but not that Buchner being our starter.

I don’t agree with that assessment.

Buchner was just as much a turnover risk in his games at ND as Milroe was for Bama last year. They are both major works in progress as passers.

I frankly haven’t see enough from Simpson to know what he is or isn’t so I don’t have an opinion on him yet.

What I know about Milroe so far:
-He is the most explosive runner I’ve ever seen at QB for Bama and is far faster than any of our current RBs that I’ve seen to date
-He has pretty good arm strength
-He has not yet shown he can read an SEC level defense
-He has not yet demonstrated a functional SEC level of accuracy
-If he could develop into a 65% passer he might be the most dangerous QB in CFB.

Again, if it’s Milroe I assume we will just shift to a TE heavy, single read RPO offense and hope the OL is what we think it is. With a top 10 defense we can win a lot of games with that combo and give Jalen time to become a more sophisticated passer just like Hurts eventually did.

It would be nice to see Simpson in a live game with the first team. Hopefully he will get that chance.

As for Milroe running RPO. He’s not been great reading defenses.

If he can’t run an RPO offense he’s not a functional QB in the SEC because based on A-Day he has zero chance of running the spread passing attack we’ve had since Tua took the reigns.

Pretty much what I said and I got ripped for it. It's been okay to say this about Milroe but when I said this about Buchner it wasn't okay lol.

Anyways, maybe I'm a little bitter. I watched that OSU-Notre Dame game hoping ND would pull off the upset and they would have if their QB wasn't an absolute blackmore for their offense.

Had Buchner been better, Notre Dame would have won, OSU would have had another loss and we would have went to the playoffs last year.

I look at Milroe and he's a guy I would love to see as our full-time starter.

He's carved out of granite, he can sling the rock and he's fast as shite.

If he could put it all together he could absolutely have a monster year for us.

The question remains is can he put it all together.

I don't think there is a single Alabama fan hoping he doesn't.

Serious question: If Milroe is a top 5 Heisman candidate, is Bama the clear favorite to win the NC?

Yes. Hell, I think if he is on the All-SEC 2nd team then we are likely a playoff team.

I know the odds are greatly against it, but I’m starting to think we may play two QBs for most of the season (not necessarily in a negative way).

Excellent use of that GIF.

FWIW, it’s highly unlikely.

I'm not necessarily anti Milroe like some on here. I think he's probably our best bet right now. And like any Alabama fan, I'm hoping for the best.

I'm just not very optimistic. I mean at least the dude can run fast. If he can just pass at a Blake Sims level, we should be okay. He has a decent deep ball

I’m not worried about Milroes ability to win us games I’m worried about his ability to lose them.

He doesn’t even need to be a Blake Sims level passer. Freshman Jalen Hurts had the touch of a rapist and walked off the field for the last time in the national championship game with the lead, but Jalen didn’t turn the football over. If Milroe hasn’t fixed his inconsistencies with ball security then it makes those game we’re 10 point favorites a toss up. The schedule goes from 3 “losable” games to 5 or 6. It’s imperative that we’re able to run the ball because if we aren’t picking up big plays in the run game he’s going to feel the pressure as a passer. Hopefully Rees calls the game to his skillet if Jalen is the guy, even if the playbook has to be sliced in half. The guy is an incredible athlete and will be a headache to game plan against if he’s used the right way. He’s a bigger Nick Marshall

Those two are almost identical players IMO with the major difference being that Hurts was pretty good about not turning the ball over.

In style you are correct but not in natural talent. Milroe is way faster than Hurts. Hurts came in with much better accuracy.

Hurts had a I5 Processor
Milroe has a I3 Processor

First year Hurts was I3... Last year before he left, he was upgraded to I5....

Milroe will be fine.
Simpson will be fine.
