We run a nickel (3-3-5) more than any other defensive set. It’s the base defense now for a lot of teams with spread offenses on their schedule and it’s why guys like Branch, Malachi, etc who played star saw the field as much as they did.
Few months ago roll Bama roll did an article on it
and back in 2016 it was pointed out how the nickel was 65% of defensive formations in the NFL . The Bills have been in the 3-3-5 for 90% of their plays this year
I mean, for antiquated technicalities sure we “run a 3-4 base” but we’re not anywhere close to being in a 3-4 as we are a 3-3-5. In actuality we’re a 3-3-5 base at this point and have been for a while. Whoever we pull for the DC role will have to run it heavily and have experience with that.

Surprising to me if actually true.
Seems like I saw a lot more 2-4-5 (based on a positional labels) or 4-2-5 (based on where guys lined up this year)
It was usually two DL flanked by Turner and Anderson in my mind with HTT and Moody/Lawson behind them
