I’d bet my house on LSU against Notre Dame. They’re obviously just building them up to give Clemson a “Quality Win”.

Hell, Vandy almost beat ND season before last.

Hell they still probably get in with a loss to Notre Dame. Only 3 of 16 One-Loss Power 5 champions have been left out of the playoff. 2 of which were Baylor and TCU in 2014 when they split the Big 12

Yep, the only way Clemson gets left out with one loss is 3 undefeated conference champions and a undefeated ND.

Disagree. Unless a significant number of ACC teams improve this year, Clemson's strength of schedule is terrible. I seriously doubt Notre Dame goes undefeated, and even if ND only has one loss (against someone other than Clemson), that will be a black mark against Clemson's overall SOS -- the one really competitive game they played (against ND), they lost.

Clemson's only path to the playoff is to go undefeated again. Any loss will keep them out. The kicker is, there's no real reason Clemson can't go undefeated.

Who knows, maybe Clemson still remembers how to Clemson and can drop one to Ga Tech or someone.

Unless programs like Miami, FSU, and VT get things turned around in a hurry Clemson is geared up to go on the kind of run FSU did in the 90s where they lose 2 total conference games in a decade.

UNC (and ND) might have the best shot at being able to compete with Clemson in the near future.

Mack Brown will probably get UNC some talent, but that program doesn't have a very high ceiling. The problem with ND is the fact that they are simultaneously in and out of the ACC, so they are neither in Clemson's division, nor eligible to play them in the conference championship. I wish the playoff committee could force their hand on that issue, but I suspect ND still has too much clout for that.

Imo, Notre Dame should be in the B1G West and Nebraska should've stayed in the Big-XII so they could recruit better in Texas. Maryland should've stayed in the ACC. Maybe Boston College would've been a better fit in the B1G. I'd rather have FSU in the SEC East in place of Mizzou who belongs in the Big-XII, and WVU belongs in the ACC.

Just because I am around these parts BC would be a bad fit for the B1G, just as bad as Maryland. Catholic, Private and East Coast (Boston is five hours from Happy Valley, 11 hours from Columbus by car-Rutgers and Maryland are much closer) and New Englanders don't care about college football. Pittsburgh really is the best fit for the B1G, but their football and basketball has fallen off too much. But based on region, culture and academics Pitt would be a good fit for the B1G, more so than BC or Maryland, IMO. The other fit might be Syracuse although it would be a stretch. Everything else I definitely agree with.

I don’t think there’s a team on Clemson’s schedule to challenge them unless they fall asleep for a game. I wouldn’t mind seeing ND upset them though. I’d rather play ND than the typical healthy Clemson team that’s always in the playoffs.

Makes sense. I agree about Pitt. They seem to fit as well as (or better than) Maryland in the B1G.

You are definitely right about Maryland, they should have stayed in the ACC for the Bball and Lacrosse rivalries alone. Those B1G checks must be nice cause they murdered their fan interest to get them.

Same with Nebraska. They are totally irrelevant now. They're a Big 12 program with natural rivalries with Oklahoma, Kansas State, Texas, etc. Missouri should have joined the Big Ten instead.
