Speed speed speed. I’ve been reading up on the new coaches and it’s all about speed.

I think Dabo is a complete goober and it's kind of a miracle that he has been so successful, but if your chief critics are Paul Finebaum and Skip Bayless I'm not sure there is a lot there. That said, Dabo is also the epitome of a whiner and his default is to avoid direct acceptance of culpability. Now is a good time for him to keep his mouth shut and let Clemson's communications director craft statements for him.

Dabo's critics also include some Clemson players.

It's sometimes difficult for players who played QB in HS because they were the best athlete to develop into a skill position. "Scheming the ball into their hands" almost seems like code for not being a natural passcatcher or ballcarrier.

Makes it harder when you've bounced around CB, RB, and WR. Maybe Townsend didn't show much at either spots, but he became a spot filler at positions rather than developing at one.

Hope he does well wherever he goes, wouldn't be totally shocked if MSU grabs him too...

Yeah I'd say that's exactly what coaches mean when they hype up a guy's playmaking ability but turn around and talk about coming up with ways to get him the ball. Because there are only 3 ways to do that. You snap it to him, you hand it to him, or you throw it to him. If he can't catch or read blocks then all you can really do is use the guy as a gadget player on stuff like reverses, and thus "we need to scheme ways to get him the ball."

Same reason as most players who transfer -- he feels he'll have a better chance to be a starting player somewhere else.

These guys are graduates and want playing time. Totally get it. I’m also hoping this means the buzz around our incoming receivers had something to do with it.

Doubtful as the incoming WRs haven't exactly had an opportunity to establish themselves anywhere on the depth chart. Smitty coming back + Metchie and Bolden appearing to be ahead of Townsend and Shavers on the depth chart is likely what prompted them to leave. They'd have been competing to be the 4th or 5th option at WR.

Shavers and Townsend have probably also seen the incoming freshmen in action during voluntary workouts. They might not feel confident about making the 2-deep at WR.
