Still have not had an elite punt returner since Eddie Jackson broke his leg
Waddle was pretty elite.

Maybe I’m crazy, but yesterday’s game was very encouraging to me. We were a couple of penalties away from blowing it wide open against the best defense in the SEC besides us and Georgia.
Dumb penalties kept them in it and really that’s all. Halftime adjustments were nearly perfect.
We haven't played a clean game in a true road game - even for a road game - since before the pandemic. Alabama has most of their biggest remaining games at home but must go on the road in November to play a solid Kentucky team and an Auburn team that will be looking to validate a likely mediocre year. Luckily the problem is mostly pre-snap penalties on offense alone now.
The big thing yesterday is that we've gotten back to basics on defense and good defense travels well. We won that game because of our defense. Pure and simple. Milroe hit some big pass plays yesterday but if the defense didn't hold Aggy to 13 points in 4 red zone possessions then Alabama loses that game.
The offensive line problems are just a massive concern. Our quarterback can't execute a short, quick passing game for a variety of reasons. So he isn't going to be helping these guys out much. Similarly, not really a natural at sensing the pocket breaking down either. These guys gonna have to learn how to protect the fastest statue QB I've ever seen and move some MFers when a run is called.

Don’t forget Vinnie Sunseri too
I don’t think he returned a single punt. You’re confusing his INT returns I guess

Eddie seemed to have that slim reaper speed. Didn't seem like he was really that fast... Then you notice wait he's blowing past people. Waddle looked fast

Bama still no. 11 in AP poll. With Texas beating us head to head and all of the unbeaten teams in the pac 12 I’m not sure why I expected us to move up…not that it matters.
I’ll take it. No rat poison for this group.

All the undefeated Pac 12 and B1G teams have to play each other. Only one can possibly come out of it unscathed. The most we can do is win out and hope. The nightmare scenario, and only one where I can see a once beaten SEC champ being left out, is undefeated Pac 12, B1G, and ACC champs with the last spot going to us or the Big 12 champ, which could still end up being Texas.

Same sentiment.
Next week the slot is:
#8 Oregon @ #7 Washington
#10 USC @ #21 Notre Dame
#25 Miami @ #12 UNC
#18 UCLA @ #15 Oregon State
Keep winning and the cards will be in our favor...

#10 in Coaches Poll - I am shocked they dropped Texas to 11.

OL gave up 6 sacks and we had more carries than yards.
Everything I heard coming into the game was how good their defense was.
Our Qb was mainly responsible for that bad rushing stat. He was 8 for -31 and all I saw was him take sacks that were avoidable.

Take out all the sacks and we're at 20 carries for 66 yards. 3.3 a carry. Not great, but not awful when you consider that 1) we basically gave up on running, 2) TAMU's gameplan was clearly to stop the run and force Jalen to make reads, and 3) several of these runs were end of game clock killers.

Yep, and when Waddle went down in 2020, Devonta Smith took over and was pretty elite the rest of the season (23.1 ypr and 1 TD)…

Our OC needs to add the WR jet sweep pass back into the offense. We need to be doing things to slow down defensive fronts so our backs can carve out running lanes.
Not impressed with this offensive staff at all right now. They're just not bringing a lot to the table to take pressure off the OL.

None of our receivers can block for shite so those jet sweeps will get eaten alive

Yea - we don't even attempt quick WR screens more than 1 or 2 times a game become everytime we do a WR whiffs on a block and almost gets the guy catching the ball decapitated.

Yeah no doubt about that. Forgot how bad the WRs are at blocking for the other skill players while trying to imagine ways to cover for the OL not blocking well for any skill player.

Its not exactly Milroe's best route. He has thrown some questionable balls on those screens. I think he's not very comfortable with it. That throw is a footwork & timing throw. Milroe has a long way to go with his feet. I believe that was one of the big areas where Kiffin helped Blake Sims.
Kendrick Law is supposed to be really good at blocking, according to the metrics from last year. Fwiw.

Good points - also probably explains why we just haven't seen as many of the counter swing passes and some of the other tricky movement/motion stuff Rees ran a lot of at Notre Dame (and immediately ran with Buchner during that ill fated half in Tampa) - just isn't stuff Jalen is comfortable with.
