No one has stopped anyone on here from voicing their concerns or worries. Its clear that many lack confidence in our players. I'm just saying that its not very reasonable to expect the worst when this team hasn't even had the opportunity to prove themselves. We have a super talented team, and things seem promising with our new coordinators. I promise you that they are very confident in what they can do this season.

Really wish Steele was on the field.

I don't care if they are coaching via zoom from their couch, as long as they coach the players well.

I have the same blind hopes as you, but when the shite hits the fan hope is not a plan you can depend on; high scoring offense is, but that would take an even bigger amount of hope.

With a dominant run game and the new running clock rule, a team can neutralize high scoring offenses easier. Notre Dame took half a quarter off of the clock on one drive this past weekend.

This is a good time to be shifting back to playing good defense and emphasizing beating teams at the line of scrimmage when running the ball.

No kidding. I don't mind an OC being in the box to see the field better, but a DC needs to be on the sideline getting in people's faces.

I'm excited about the potential in our RBs. I've been chomping at the bit to see J. Miller get some real carries. Justice Haynes looks like the real deal. I don't know much about Richard Young in camp, but apparently he's a beast too.

And then there are our 2 vets who have shown flashes of being really good, but have had to battle through injury. They seem healthy this year, and I feel like both of them feel like they have something to prove. And they will be instrumental in being leaders for the young backs.

It worries you because a completely different Alabama team lost to a completely different Auburn team 6 years ago?

Don't forget that Auburn team also beat the shite out of Georgia in the regular season and looked like they were going to dominate them again in the SEC Championship Game until Kerryon Johnson got hurt.

That Auburn squad was cooking the back half of the season.

Yes. Johnson was injured in the Iron Bowl that season and it really cost them in the SECCG the next week. I was still surprised to see Georgia dominate them that thoroughly. Bad loss for the barn.

I believe Kevin Steele was their DC also.

Yeah what happened to Saban's policy about having his coordinators on the sidelines??
He needs to be able to chew their asses out

That’s a great plan when you aren’t playing from behind. Get behind by 10 points and where does this plan get you? In the loss column.

Back in 2021, Saban explained the coaching assignments (sidelines vs booth) like this:
quote:

“We have Doug Marrone and the other coaches that are on the sidelines, Wig as the receiver coach, who has been here, he’s assistant head coach, he knows the system,” Saban said on Thursday night. “So to split the staff up was really sort of the right thing to do. And Bill wanted to be in the press box, but he could do it either way and he’s done it either way. But it just balanced the staff out a little bit better to have Doug and Wig on the sidelines with the players because of their experience, because they could make the adjustments.

“Bill can always make the adjustments with the quarterback. And I think it enhances your ability to call the game when you’re in the press box because you don’t have all the distractions that you have on the sidelines. There’s good and bad in both, I promise you, so it really is kind of up to the individual and the group that you have and how that works best for your team.”

And for those worried about Tommy's ability to get his QB's attention from the booth...well, here's a clip from last year

Obviously you never want to be down multiple scores, but I can think of a few games over the years where we've been down two scores and smash mouthed our way back into the game and eventually win. Of course, playing good defense and getting 4th quarter stops is always super helpful.

Does no one remember the multitude of defensive injuries going into those final few games of the season? We were down to the slow white guy at LB and were thin on Dline as well. A healthy Bama team rolled into the playoffs and dismantled Clemson and held on long enough for Tua to save the day against UGA.

Hurts and the offense's poor performance at Auburn didn't help in that game, but it definitely wasn't the sole reason for the loss.

Serious question: How does a blue-blood program like Notre Dame trot out such ridiculous uniforms in 2022?
