Bad media coverage. That’s how.

For someone who doesn't know much about college baseball outside of "SEC good", is the Alabama job basically impossible at this point? Like honestly I don't even know how you're supposed to build a program when everyone else in your league is in the top 20 and has been basically every year for the last decade.

It’s our own fault though. Alabama was one of the top two or three jobs in the SEC just 15 years ago. But a total lack of commitment to the facility race going on around the conference allowed others to pass Alabama. It was too little, too late with the baseball facility updates. Bad coaching hires since Jim Wells retiring only compounded the problems.
Bohannon needs time. And you can see things improving in some areas. Just have to keep chipping away.

Yeah I know about Goff practically turning the program into an NAIA team. I guess really my question is what exactly is a path forward to a place where we are able to realistically compete for the conference championship? And does one even exist at this point?

Every 4 or 5 years? Sure. Consistently? No.
A solid path forward for us is basically what Auburn currently is, IMHO. Go 14-16 to 16-14 in the SEC every year, go to the NCAAT almost every year, hope to get hot a few years and make runs to Omaha. I'd be pretty happy with that.
Alabama and Auburn don't have the built-in scholarship advantages of most of the league and they don't care on the whole at the same level that State and Ole Miss do.

No, the Alabama job is not impossible at all. Bohannan has found some players. He has scouted the Western Hemisphere for them. We still are behind on some talent. Our bullpen is not SEC level at all outside of Lee. You must remember that Ole Missy and Miss. state were robbing us blind of talent just a few years ago. I believe we will start to stanch that flow. We are going to get more and more talent. Right now we really need hitters. We have facilities. We have the school. We have the gymnasts - do the baseball players all still date the gymnastics team, like they used too?

We were one strike away from getting out of the inning and instead give up a 4-spot.

Praytor with a nice 2-out RBI. Maybe our first two out RBI since Alex Avila did it in 2007

Oh Look Will Freeman warming up. Maybe could have started him in the 6th instead of this kid.

Can't imagine things going much worse since Game 1
