Gotta get one tomorrow. We went into the SEC with the idea we had to come out of the first two weekends 2-4.

Awful day. Not much else to say.
When you have one game you lead 3-1 after 8 and another where your SP throws like Dylan did you have to at least win 1. If you don't, you end up going 10-20 in the SEC.

10-20 might be the ceiling. But I’m also fuming.

I’m not hopeful. If their pitcher has a pulse then look for a 7-1 type loss.

Not closing with Lee in the first game is the most baffling coaching decision I've seen in a long time unless he's hurt. 2 run lead in the 9th against a top 5 team at home and you don't use your ace closer? I'm not sure what the thought process is there.

Can we just not hit? Where are the bats that put 16 runs up on Arkansas?

And in a series where winning 1 is a huge deal and you basically give yourself 2 changes at gravy wins.
It's definitely not the spot to get cute. And (assuming he wasn't hurt) it cost us. Huge. I mean, it's just a gigantic momentum change.

We are streaky as hell. They have just been unusually quite since last Friday night.

They show up 1 inning every 3-4 games and the other 95% of innings are 13 pitch innings with 2 strikeouts.

We could've easily taken both games today against the #4 team and just pissed it away.

How did we wind up with such a young team after a covid year? How many other teams benefited by having players come back?
I’m trying to remind myself we’re having to start conference play against two of the top five teams in the country but man this stings.

Having lived through it, I’m not ready to go back and read the complete game thread, but Chase was not hurt. He and Brock were warming up in the bullpen prior to the start of the 9th. Not sure what the thought process was but 3 outs away from a big win in game one (2nd week in a row) and it all just slips away. It sucked the life out of the team and out of the stadium.
TJ was back a week earlier than expected. There were murmurs in the ballpark he might pinch hit tonight but then he wound up playing. Hamiter apparently has an oblique injury of some sort. We could have used his bat in the second game for sure. Tough night at the Joe.

Gotta confess I haven’t watched it, but if anyone is up for it tonight, here’s the post game press conference

Which begs another question. Why didn’t he start game 1? At least most of his outs were loud tonight and the strike out should have been a walk.

gotta admit this was the first year I allowed myself to be vested back in BB. When I mean vested I dont mean a fan but emotionally vested too. It took a long time to get that way for basketball and I am back now.
giving up 8 runs last night in the 9th without starting Lee in the 9th knocked it out of me. Guffey has had 2 bad games in the past week. I knew we had the capability of struggling when SMU threw 10 pitchers at us in the mid week game and they had our number. All 10 of those seemed better then any of our non weekend starters except for Lee.

Hate to call a game a must-win 6 games into the SEC season but today is a pretty huge swing game.
End these first 2 weekends 2-4 and I think it's about where most of us hoped/thought. End them 1-5 and on a 6 game losing streak.........that's a hole.

Still don't really understand how yesterday happened.

I just watched the entire press conference and nobody asked about the Lee situation - and close games and that inning specifically were discussed.
How the heck does that happen?
