Thoughts are Miss State will gobble up the ‘expanded capacity’ and stub hub tix and outnumber the Bama faithful for the last home series. Most students will be long gone by the time this series comes around so no telling what right field will look like.

State's already out for Spring semester.

Not really relevant - the concern is our students in RF because it's our home series. The State folks that will travel will be fans/alums, so their students in or out of school won't really matter.

Supposed to be out sometime this month. I got to listen to Coach Bohannon shortly after he arrived and he said the same thing then about the scholarship and the coaching discrepancy in baseball. Doubtful anything will change anytime soon but one can hope. Below are three 1 min promos from the documentary (Uneven: College Baseball’s Scholarship Issue). Coach Bohannon and Greg Byrne are in promo 3.

Ron Polk has been fighting this for 30 years. It just doesn't matter to enough people for this to change.

“It has taken an entire segment of population out of play from a recruiting standpoint.” - Butch Thompson

Actually haven’t heard that angle before. That might just work this time around.

I’ll keep an eye out for its release - posted as coming May 2021:

WHY IT’S IMPORTANT

College baseball programs deal with NCAA restrictions other sports don’t have.

Each DI baseball program is only allowed to offer a total of 11.7 scholarships to its roster of 35 players. Baseball is the only NCAA sanctioned sport with a roster cap.

While some teams work around scholarship restrictions, others can’t. The sport continues to grow - revenue is up, as is television viewership and fan attendance - while most college players must fund their own cost of attendance.

More education on the subject is needed. Steps must be taken to open college baseball to athletes who want to play, not just those who can afford it.

Have we just completely given up on Connor P pitching this season and Jean? Any scuttlebutt?. Would have loved to see where we would be as far as regionals with them healthy all year

Are we just this pitching depleted?

That’s the only explanation I can think of. Given Coach Bohannon’s mantra of ‘you only get better at baseball by playing baseball’, why else’s would we be canceling the last two midweek games? Not because we don’t need the hitting or fielding experience.

Hitting is better than i thought. Maybe it's because of the level of our competition over the past 4 weeks? Not looking forward to seeing an update to those numbers at the end of the next 3 series

Probably part of it, but I also think we were just collectively struggling the first 20 games or so of the season. We've had a bunch of guys get back right at the same time.

This weekend will, obviously, challenge that
