38-3 is like what we did to Michigan State in 2015. Nobody took Sparty as serious contender again after that.
Saban's Bama lost to Clemson 44-16 in the title game...comparable to 38-3 in the arse kicked dept. New starting QB the following season...and Bama was preseason #3 the following season.
Yeah, win and it all shakes out...but I'm just saying the current players should be embarrassed to be thought of the least of any Bama team in the past 18 years coming into a season. Not exactly the Bama Standard...if that matters to them anymore between meetings with their agents and portal value projections.

It was like Clemson knew what we were gonna do on offense and defense. And the Clemson QB played the game of his LIFE! but I have no proof of anything except for the fact I did see some Clemson defenders leave their man to break on the ball early when there was no way they could have known what was going to happen on the play. Its like they had plugged into our headsets. But whatever. Very unexplainable.

Perfect storm. We were worn out. They were fresh. Half the coaching staff was out the door. We couldn’t finish drives. “Cold weather” Tua was a thing. Also Clemson was damn good.
As for the other speculation about them knowing the plays….no comment.

Will they also get blown out a few times this season?
I don't know about Ohio State but if Indiana is the reason we're ranked 13th, then someone will need to explain why Oregon is number 2....
"They don't lose to Vanderbilt." Mfers, they play a trash schedule and literally almost lost twice to a Wisconsin team we throttled... twice.

quote:If I remember right, I heard Clemson had stolen our plays somehow. It was either Clemson or another team that had stolen them and sent them to Clemson. To me it was obvious they had something going on in their favor. There was one INT where the defender broke on the ball before it was even passed.

but unfortunately 38-3 did significantly harm the program's perception.
It's not just that.. it's losing to Florida State and the 28-7 in the Sec Championship.

Seems about right. Finished #9 last year. New unproven QB. New O line coach. Lots of question marks. I’m fine with it.

Sayin - alabama did not fight for him. In the end it likely would have cost them Russell, who IMO will be better. Not the size DeBoer is looking for. Not his recruit.
Downs - a truly great player, big loss. He might have stayed but his father wanted him to take the money. Hubbard is not a bad consolation, though ultimately there is no comparison.
Smith & Russaw - nether was above average in Bama’s scheme, except that Russaw was really good at setting the edge in the running game. He was not a good edge rusher. Clinton-Dix said, “no production, let them go”. Smith was a bad scheme fit. He also had 2 devastating “unwise” personal fouls. One that cost Alabama a shot at tying FSU late.
Seth was a good blocker but wretched snapper. Cost Alabama a chance at a NC, almost cost the the AU game. It was best that he leave. Happy he had success at OSU. He was undrafted by NFL but signed as usda w/ Connor, then was cut. Has since signed w/Detroit.
Earl Little left Alabama for FSU not OSU because of playing time, which he was not going to get in the quantity he wanted at Alabama. He subsequently left for OSU
Sure all programs want players and coaches who have Alabama connections. They are the best.
Really, most players listed are fine college players, a couple more than that, but they only really cared about Downs who was a real loss. To say Alabama is a farm system for OSU a bogus characterization that only the ignorant or a troll or less would suggest. Alabama is 4-1 vs OSU and leads in NCs 17-8. OSU is a great program but a distant second to Alabama. Ryan Day said a few years ago that every day they think about Alabama and everything they do is with Alabama in mind. No wonder they have an interest in acquiring any Alabama magic they can.

We deserve every bit of disrespect we have/are receiving. Until Coach figures this thing out, we will be a 9-3, 8-4 team

That’s the excuse, but it is a ruse because Alabama put up a better fight than Oregon who was behind 35-7 at the half. Oregon tacked on a couple of meaningless TDs in the 2nd half while losing 56-22. Alabama was down 17-0 in the 3rd qtr, driving for a possible score when they lost their QB.
It’s the double standard, Oregon bears little stigma. Many are looking for any reason to spit on Alabama. Alabama’s reign for most of the 21st century was like “the nation’s long national nightmare” to some. That a program from the contemptible Old South and the land of Bull Connor, should dominate an endeavor that means a lot to much of the nation is abhorrent to many. Some pile on whenever they can.
But it doesn’t matter if Alabama shows up this year, which IMO, they will. We’ll see.

Kind of disagree about your assessment of Bray Hubbard. He's maybe not quite as fast as Downs but is bigger and is a fine athlete in his own right. Anybody who had a Division I baseball scholarship (he was originally going to play baseball at Southern Miss) AND was Gatorade POY in Mississippi as a senior is obviously a good athlete.
If Hubbard comes up with 5 INTs (or more), I can pretty much guarantee you he'll be a first team AA and a 1st round draft pick.

Good point.
But it's lost on fans that seem more intent on putting the program down more than opposing fans do.
You'd have thought DeBoer went 7-5 in both of his seasons with the way people act...which, by the way, would get you a lifetime contract extension at auburn these days.
