It may be me putting my on personal spin on things, but the way this one has played out it seems to me that Saban really, really thinks this kid needs serious help and is doing everything he can to provide it with football considerations not being on the radar at all.

I agree and sure hope so. During SEC Media Days, every HC was asked numerous times what their program was doing for players going through emotional problems. All, pretty much wax poetic and layed out some plan that showed an interest in the future welfare of the player, beyond actually playing football again.

One out of 4 people in society has a form of mental illness. That number will relate to football teams as it will to corperate America or college students.

I'm sure this is the safety net coach Saban talked about at the Media Days and he clearly stated he knew this is always going to be an issue on his football team. Luther Davis, Rolando McClain, and I'm sure a host of others, were able to work through the hurdles while at Alabama. Not all have or will. But at least coach Saban has a gameplan and good for him and young Mr. Alfano. I truly wish him well. You are talking about potentially the most debilitating illness in the long list of ailments man can suffer through.

Haven't seen him in the past two weeks or so personally, but i've heard he will be at Alabama until the end of the semester and then transfer.

As long as he is going to classes and keeping himself eligible ,I would think there is a chance of him coming back. If not it's Katie bar the door.

I mean, he was the #5 player in the nation in the 247 Composite and the #1 player according to 247's own evaluations.

Your weren't exactly alone in this opinion.

Why the hell did he even commit when he wasn't even going to show up this season?

So is this the biggest 5* flameout we have seen in Saban era? Feels like it...certainly the quickest

Dude clearly has problems that go well beyond football. I hope he gets it all sorted.

Similar to #9, headcase and family issues. Compounded with the possible idea he wouldn't start right out of the gate.

I don't know tbh.

BJ Scott or T Love might be just as big of disappointments.

But you also had other 5 stars who never panned out for multiple reasons but came into the program with great expectations.

P Sims
E Williams
B Barnett
K Sheffield

Also players that made it through the program but never lived up to their potential.

T Brown
D Hand
B Davis

But do not tell Sean about 5 stars that do not make it.

He handled this like a bitch. He won't make anything of himself if someone doesn't teach him how to be a man.

This. Bottom line Eboigbe jumped him because he was working his arse off, and AA was still basking in that 5 star shine. Hearing all the locals back home on how great he is, but he knew he wasnt.
Kids transfer, good for them, but they stick it out for a season or two. This kid took his ball and went home after the first day.
