I’m starting to believe that anyone who is said to be a guy who will contribute immediately once he gets to Bama, will be the complete opposite and won’t last.

You can arrive with all the bells and whistles you want. But if you don't want to do the school work it simply won't go well here. It does make you kinda curious if AA had any red flags in the academic department during recruiting? The star system sure didn't pick it up.

Family issues which, led to behavioral issues and now team issues. I’d say 50/50.

There were always these vague rumors of "character concerns" that no one really elaborated on and lots of Alabama fans wrote them off because of that. If the issues were academic then that may explain why they weren't really elaborated on depending on what they were. Especially if Alfano and/or his parents weren't the source of the information regarding academic stuff.

I don't care what the recruiting services or career stat sheets say. Sometimes a single play makes you a 5 star.

That was an brilliant play. He earned his scholarship with that one. An almost impossible play at a critical stage of the game.

BJ Scott

People like shitting on this dude but he was the glue to that 2008 recruiting class. He recruited his arse off and the players loved him. Will always appreciate BJ Scott even though it didn't work out on the field for him.

That man is still on the team and fighting through the adversity he’s faced. That’s more than you can say for a lot of other guy’s. He hasn’t let it beat him, I wouldn’t write him off yet.

Hate to hear that if it's true. He is a 5 star talent. It's sad when some of those guys turn out to have a 2 star work ethic.

It seems to me more and more of these 5 star guys come in with shite attitudes, lazy work ethics and entitlement mentalities. I know you have to recruit the most talented guys, and a lot of them work out but sheesh. Give me a solid 4 star with a killer work ethic like DJ Dale, Shane Lee or Jordan Battle over the entitled 5 stars like Anoma, Blake Barnett and apparently Alfano. These dudes need to have their asses kicked back into reality.

that's what al.com reported yesterday

Defensive lineman Antonio Alfano remains absent, though AL.com can report the former five-star recruit has not officially entered the NCAA’s transfer portal.
