Yea 0 or 1 loss I would be all about going but with 2 losses , not sure it is the best scenario

If Bama were 13+ and some how made it to ATL..the go
If Bama were #1 then go to ATL * ( must likely scenario of a loss would be a drop not past 4)
The worst case scenario is going in as 8 and losing and dropping to 13 (l going from hosting to watching)
Or 4 to 9 going from bye to traveling but that's a tough fall ..would require a lite of underdogs to win their conf champ games

Nah. Being the 1 or 2 seed not only provides a bye, but also presumably puts you up against the champion of the ACC or Big 12 later on
I like the sound of playing SMU or BYU in New Orleans or Atlanta

There is no advantage to play in the SEC championship in the new format, just another chance to get players hurt

Losing the SEC championship game gives you 3 loses and most likely knocks you out of the top 12 and the playoffs.
Winning the SEC Championship game against a 1 loss Texas team most likely means you have to play them again in the playoffs.
As things stand now, I see no positive outcome for this team playing in the SEC Championship Game. I mean if your goal is winning the SEC Championship game, maybe.
Hard pass on making it to that game. No thanks.

Wrong.

[Rodak] Good question from Rece Davis to CFP chairman Warde Manuel about a team playing in a conference championship game -- a 13th game -- and taking another loss. Manuel: "We try not to punish, but we also are watching the games and I think that's important for us as we deliberate."

5th seed is the ideal seed and the easiest path to the semifinals.
5th seed hosts the 12th seed, which is almost guaranteed to be the top ranked G5 team.
Then in the 2nd round the 5th seed would play the 4th seed, which is the lowest ranked P4 champ

I believe one of the tiebreakers is winning percentage of SEC opponents, and UT’s schedule is not as hard. Might be wrong about that though

Sounds like if you barely lose they won’t count it against you. But if you get crushed they might

I don’t think a loss in the SECCG is going to put you out but I do think it’s going to put you on the road in the 1st round

The SEC championship is now meaningless (to many, if not most), and we'll get to watch teams like Boise St. and BYU get blown out in the first round. Thanks, expanded playoff proponents.

So you interpret "We try not to punish, but we also are watching the games and I think that's important for us as we deliberate." as a definitive no.
That’s a huge reach. They are clearly telling you they are watching the games and the outcome is important. If your final impression on the committee is a loss it will cost you. They aren’t going to a 3 loss Alabama in over a 2 loss Ole Miss or Tennessee, or most 2 loss teams. That is never going to happen.

There is 0 chance the committee leaves out a team that made it to the SEC conference title game. ZERO Heck, there's zero chance they leave out the Big Ten runner up, too. It's the other conferences where this is a possibility. A two-loss Miami that lost it's conference is probably left out.

I’ve been wondering about this. They are gonna play 2 ranked teams all season. Scenarios like that are when the committee should consider punishing a conference championship loser

If every favorite wins every SEC game from here on out, this is what the final conference standings would look like:
1st Texas (7-1)
T-2nd Alabama (6-2)
T-2nd LSU (6-2)
T-2nd Georgia (6-2)
T-2nd Texas A&M (6-2)
T-2nd Ole Miss (6-2)
T-2nd Tennessee (6-2)
With all of those 6-2 teams, you can throw any head-to-head results out the window.
It goes to SEC opponents' winning percentage, and we have the tiebreaker over all the other potential 2-loss teams at the moment because we didn't play Miss State or Kentucky, the worst two teams in the league this year.
Teams that played BOTH Miss State and Kentucky:
- Texas
- UGA
- Tennessee
- Ole Miss
Teams that played played Miss State, but not Kentucky:
- A&M
Teams that played played neither Miss State nor Kentucky:
- Bama
- LSU
That's why in the doomsday where there is an 7-way tie of 6-2 teams, the SEC Championship Game would actually be an Alabama/LSU rematch!

Auburn?
Do we need Auburn to beat aTm?

Auburn is going to pull one out of its arse and beat A&M. I’m calling it now. And they’ll play their arse off against us and put a scare into us.

Even if TN loses they hold the tie breaker with us head to head. They’d have to lose two for Bama to go. That said Bama is already dangerously then in the secondary and LB room. We don’t want to play in seccg. This team needs a few weeks to heal and get ready for playoffs assuming they win out.

Not true. It's different criteria when multiple teams are tied.
For example , there is a scenario where multiple teams can tie at 6-2 and LSU would get to the SECCG over Bama.

I beg to disagree.
If we go to the championship game, we'll play one game against a decent team in a neutral site. Win and we get a first round bye in the CFP.
If you don't play, you'll have no first round bye, and quite possibly have to play the first game on the road.
I'd rather the neutral site game instead
