You guys need to calm down with this trope that we will get embarrassed by a good team in a non NC/playoff bowl game. That has happened 2/3 times, the first time being 11 years ago. So in the last ten years, we beat the frick out of one team, and lost one against OU where the score looked a lot worse than the game was, in non-NC/playoff games.

We barely lost to arguably the best team in the nation this year, and barely lost a flukey game to our rival with our backup QB, and dominated most of that game. We will likely embarrass whoever we play, unless all of our juniors sit out. Quit being scared.

That doesn’t make me feel any better. Harbaugh will treat that it’s the damn Super Bowl while we go through the motions.

Yep. My expectations are extremely low. Maybe they surprise? Guess we'll just have to see, but I'm not too confident in a victory especially with how much bad luck this season has been.

Band wagon fans out everywhere. I mean to say you never heard of a bowl we played in 2010 coming basically off the same type of season shows how long you have been a fan.

Bad thing is most of the juniors and seniors will sit out of this game.

Michigan will be super hyped and beat Bama by 3 touchdowns.

Yeah this won’t happen. Even if Michigan wins it won’t be a blow out.

Not like we’ll be massive favorites like the Utah and Oklahoma games. Plus they’ll be talking lots of shite. Not saying we win but I bet we’ll play pissed off

Maybe I’m wrong but I don’t think any team was devastated with injuries to key players more then Bama.

Shane Lee struggled mightily but he did the best he could along with the rest of the freshman. These young man had to step up and fill some big shoes at a elite program let’s not forget about that.

Again, there’s a huge difference between 2010 where every single one of our first rounders treated the game like an audition and what could happen this year. Sitting for the bowl game wasn’t a thing in 2010. It is now. It might be a cynical take but it’s definitely a real possibility.

I hope we roll into whatever game we play fired up and ready to roll.

So the only way Bama gets into a New Year's Six Bowl game now is if Georgia beats LSU and they both get both get in the playoffs.

Utah beats Oregon
OU beats Baylor
Ohio St beats Wisconsin

That puts Ohio St, Clemson, Georgia and LSU in the playoffs.

Rose Bowl: Utah vs Penn St
Sugar Bowl: Florida vs OU
Orange Bowl: Auburn vs Virginia
Cotton Bowl: Bama vs Group of 5 team

How the hell is Virginia going to get into a New Year's Six game by being unranked???

If Baylor loses this weekend, they fall behind Bama. Same with Wisconsin.

Bama will be 10th at least next week.

I'd like a Michigan bowl game.
20 years ago we played them in a classic Orange bowl.
S.Alexander & Tom Brady dueled it out.
Game goes OT & we lose of course on a missed xtra point.
Yeah, I'd like payback on that 1 as well.

Real-time: Bowl, Playoff Projections & Intel (247Sports | segments)
quote:

Postseason CFP and bowl matchups will be announced on Sunday. 247Sports will continue to update these projections by the hour as invites and new intel trickles in. Our matchups are based on the bowl selection process with regards to 2019-20 specific tie-ins and league guidelines.

Citrus Bowl: Michigan vs. Alabama
Outback Bowl: Wisconsin vs. Tennessee
Gator Bowl: Minnesota vs. Auburn

247Sports intel: We expect Alabama to slide to the Citrus Bowl, who last hosted the Crimson Tide (vs. Michigan State) in 2010. Orlando gets first pick of SEC teams after the New Year's Six and the Crimson Tide is a no-brainer. The Citrus Bowl gets its pick of available Big Ten teams after New Year's Six selections are made and the draw of a potential Michigan-Alabama battle would be salivating. An interesting note to the Citrus Bowl's preferred teams — final rankings won't matter. The Citrus could take Auburn over Alabama, but that seems unlikely.

NEW YEAR'S SIX BOWL PROJECTIONS

Orange Bowl: Virginia vs. Florida
Rose Bowl: Penn State vs. Oregon
Sugar Bowl: Oklahoma vs. Georgia
Cotton Bowl: Baylor vs. Memphis

247Sports intel: With Alabama taking a major tumble in Tuesday's latest Playoff rankings, the New Year's Six is out of the picture for the Crimson Tide as the SEC's fifth highest-ranked team. Alabama's move out of the Orange Bowl pushes Florida to that spot and gets Baylor to the Cotton vs. Memphis. The Tigers will need to hold up their end of the bargain on Saturday in the AAC title game to get there, however. As the first teams out of the Playoff, Oklahoma and Georgia will likely square off in the Sugar Bowl — Big 12 champion vs. SEC runner-up.

CFP SEMIFINAL PROJECTIONS

Fiesta Bowl: #2 LSU vs. #3 Clemson
Peach Bowl: #1 Ohio State vs. #4 Utah

Yes I agree as 2010 was different but those players were different as well. We had what 4 1st rd picks and a 7th with GMac. Dareus, Ingram, Julio, and Carpenter all left it on the field. The guys we have today many do not.

But my post was more geared to the fan that said he never heard of the Citrus Bowl which shows me they are not a real fan.

And 2010 does remind me a lot of this season. We came in expecting to compete for a title(back to back). Ingram needed surgery and missed the 1st 4 games, Hightowewr just returned from being injured, Trent got hurt against USC, Dareus was out the first couple of games and IIRC Julio played hurt most of the season. AU that year reminds me a lot of this years LSU team. Not a lot of credit for how good they are but beat us and their QB probably won the Heisman when he beat us.

Hopefully the same result happens to us over the next 2 years.
