Real-time: Bowl, Playoff Projections & Intel (247Sports | segments)
quote:

Postseason CFP and bowl matchups will be announced on Sunday. 247Sports will continue to update these projections by the hour as invites and new intel trickles in. Our matchups are based on the bowl selection process with regards to 2019-20 specific tie-ins and league guidelines.

NEW YEAR'S SIX BOWL PROJECTIONS

Orange Bowl: Virginia vs. Alabama
Rose Bowl: Penn State vs. Oregon
Sugar Bowl: Oklahoma vs. Georgia
Cotton Bowl: Florida vs. Memphis

247Sports intel: Don't expect Alabama to fall outside of the New Year's Six unless the selection committee detonates the Crimson Tide in Sunday's final rankings. The loss to Auburn is detrimental, sure, but a two-loss titan will play in a premiere game, whether that's in Miami or Dallas. We're continuing to stick with our Florida-Memphis projection in the Cotton Bowl. The Tigers will need to hold up their end of the bargain on Saturday in the AAC title game to get there, however. As the first teams out of the Playoff, Oklahoma and Georgia will likely square off in the Sugar Bowl — Big 12 champion vs. SEC runner-up. We know everyone wants to see Oklahoma vs. Alabama thanks to the Jalen Hurts angle, but the Crimson Tide won't be ranked high enough.

CFP SEMIFINAL PROJECTIONS

Fiesta Bowl: #2 LSU vs. #3 Clemson
Peach Bowl: #1 Ohio State vs. #4 Utah

I am 100% good with that and we can win that game a lot easier than Baylor or OU.

If we get UVA a unranked team, it's still the same as playing in a crap bowl game even if it's a NY6 bowl.

I think the Orange Bowl committee gets to pick a Wild Card if no ranked ACC Team exists. But I bet politics back stage will lead them to put UVA at 25

And just like that, we're ranked behind Auburn. I hope the citrus bowl is fun for our highly paid coaches!

I’ll probably be more into a Citrus Bowl than a Cotton Bowl vs Memphis or an Orange Bowl vs UVA.

We also just went to the Orange Bowl, and it was a pretty terrible atmosphere for a playoff game

The ‘95 Citrus Bowl vs Ohio State was a fire game.

Of course I’d rather have a NY6 Bowl but if we have a bunch of guys sit and play some team like Memphis, I could see things getting bad.

Truth be told, we don’t deserve a NY6 Bowl. We did nothing to earn it. Just a wasted year.

You’ve never heard of the Citrus Bowl?

One projection I keep seeing is Bama vs Michigan.

Dude, we get it. The season was disappointment, and you are pouting about it. Sometimes life doesn't work out like we want it to. Just accept it, and move on. You'll feel a lot better.

That doesn’t make me feel any better. Harbaugh will treat that like it’s the damn Super Bowl while we go through the motions.

I'm being completely optimistic. I'm really glad it's almost over.

We played in it by a different name this decade

We played in this game against a good Michigan State team and beat the brakes off them in 2010.

Certainly I hope our young guys play hard because they haven’t proven anything

The difference might be that all of our first rounders played in that game and weren’t down several key injuries.
