Mississippi Gulf Coast C.C. wide receiver D’haquille Williams shocked everyone little over a week ago when he unexpectedly de-committed from LSU. The 5-star pass catcher felt like he rushed his decision so now the Louisiana native is taking his time with the process as he evaluates all of his options. “Auburn, LSU, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, Miami and Arkansas have all been in contact with me,” Williams said. “I’m wide open though. Wide open. I’m open to every school in the country right now. If there’s a school out there that wants me, come get me, before it’s too late.
” While no visit dates have been set, Williams knows he’ll be taking at least one of his five official visits this summer. “I’m just trying to get to Texas over the summer,” he said. “I’ve been in contact with Coach Bo (Davis) a lot. He like the way I play so he want to get me up there. He thinks I’d be a big addition to their offense. Hopefully it will work out. Who knows, maybe I’ll become a Longhorn. They got a good team. Lots of young players but we could build that up.
” One school who’s putting the full-court-press on Williams is Auburn. “Auburn be the one after me the hardest,” he said. “It’s like these other schools don’t want me or nothing. I like them and I’ll visit them sometime in the fall for sure. I have a good connection with their coaches.” Williams tends to be a little overzealous about the lack of contact he’s receiving from college coaches.
In fact, he’s still talking frequently with the LSU Tigers. “I’ve been talking with the LSU coaches,” he said. “I really want to be there, but I don’t want to be there. I just want to see what their offense does, because if you look at it, they haven’t been producing no good receivers. Don’t get me wrong, I like LSU, but D’haquille Williams is open to any school.
” The Aggies offered Williams earlier this spring. It appears the 6-3, 213-pounder would like to hear more from A&M and is serious about playing in Kevin Sumlin’s high powered offense. “I haven’t really been talking to them like that,” he said. “I want to talk with them but I haven’t really been talking to them like that. I been talking to Coach Price a little and he want me up there. My boy Floyd Raven plays safety for them so I been talking with him too. I remember practicing with Floyd and I couldn’t get off his jam for nothing (laughing). When we were at LSU’s camp way back when, we were laying in bed and talking about how we going to play in college together one day. We didn’t know which one but we knew it would happen. Who knows, it might be Texas A&M.
He want me up there bad. I’m going to take a visit up there sometime this season.” He added, “I’ll say this, if Texas A&M wants me, I’d love to be an Aggie. I’d love to be an Aggie. I could see myself playing with Johnny Manziel. I could see myself playing with Floyd Raven and Mike Evans.”
