I posted this in the baseball thread, but it isn't likely to get attention until we play Troy on Friday.

According to Perfect Game we have had a surge in recruiting. I don't have a subscription, so I could only see the teaser titles.

We landed a 2015 C/1B and a 2013 P from Mississippi. Maybe I can find out more or someone can fill me in

The University of Alabama has landed yet another commitment for the 2013 recruiting class in C/1B Anthony Sherlag.

Sherlag is a 6-foot-3, 210-pounder, from Atlanta (Marist). He's ranked No. 500 nationally, No. 62 in Georgia, and had a pop time of 1.96 seconds last June at PG National.

Alabama has landed its latest commitment for the 2015 recruiting class in OF/LHP Jake Mangum, a Mississippi product.

Mangum is a 5-foot-10, 155-pounder, from Pearl, Miss. (Jackson Prep). He's considered a high follow on the national stage, and is ranked No. 6 in Mississippi. On the mound, Mangum topped out at 85 last summer.

I'll have to ask the State and Ole Miss fans on Mangum.

Cornwell is the type of QB we need. I want a guy who steps up in the pocket and throws strikes.

Not sure where you got a Star Jackson comparison. Harris has a much stronger arm. Also, a big reason Star failed to make any kind of impact at UA was extreme laziness, not a lack of talent.

What do you mean by "a guy who steps up in the pocket and throws strikes" anyway? You mean a QB who isn't a runner, right? Because Cornwell rushed for more yards as a HS JR than Harris did. Both of them do a good job of hanging in the pocket and taking a hit. They both do a good job of keeping their eyes downfield when they get flushed too. The main difference between them right now is that Cornwell has already filled out his frame and his mechanics are more polished. Harris has a tremendous amount of upside though. I'd be happy with either, although Cornwell, being the more polished prospect, may be the smarter decision by the staff considering the lack of clarity at the QB position for next season.

Bama has helped itself considerably since Sunday with Tony Brown, Saban really struck a chord with his father and Kirby shows up at the school on Tuesday, this is one recruitment I am watching pretty closely

I think Cornwell is considering this camp as a "QB tryout" to earn a scholly that is very likely already there, but his attitude seems to be "Don't tell me I have one, I'm still competing" I think from what I've heard and read. Whether he will seriously have a problem with another QB is not foreseeable (or I guess whether the staff can smooth it over) I still think if Harris wants in he will have a scholly

Nuss ultimately wants competition. PERIOD so I think this is the way, bring in 2 guys a yr, last yrs fluke with Del Rio added 3, and Del Rio I wouldn't think will get a scholly even if he was Bama's starting QB at some point in the next 3 years

I think at some point Bama coaches will push for Roc (once the ship has sailed for LF) he will commit or flip whichever

This crap with Deshaun Watson, AU, and BCW proves there is still slime down on the plains. It reaks like the CK last weekend trip did, no one knew, coach didnt know, he showed up on Campus and tried to stay hidden

Regardless Im excited about our upcoming QB camp

If we don't get general cornrow wallace then i don't want a qb in this class. Get the best next year and space them out a little

If wedding get Cornwall it's because the staff liked someone more.

I like. The fact that Cornrow ran for more yards is all the more reason. I'm even more impressed by him then.

Yes, but our staff hasnt shown an ability to always make the best qb decisions. That and special teams has been their weakness

I agree

Here's a comparison Mag will get

The staff can be a bit erratic at QB selection not unlike Mark Sanchez ala the infamous butt fumble

It's been pretty bad other than McElroy (really wasn't this staff) and AJ McCarron

McElroy wasn't this staff. McCarron was in state and worked out. Every other quarterbacking decision has been a dumpster fire. Going on year 6 and we don't have a single 5 star qb on roster.

Not complaining, because we've won, but if you're going to attack this staff at all you can only ever go with a few options. QB recruiting, lack of pass rush, special teams, Bobby Williams is the worst at everything.

how can you conclude Bobby W. is the worst at everything. He is loyal and NS keeps him around for a reason. That tells me that he is meeting NS's expectations which is good nuff for me.

Id rather have badass RBs that can pound.

It makes perfect sense for a 5 star QB to not want to go to Alabama. I am happy with who they have been able to get.

Sad how quickly this thread became a "flame Bucc" fest - LINK

All I did was post that Bama is making it interesting with Tony Brown after Saban's Skype call with his dad and Kirby's visit I guess he who dares post anything to the contrary of "LSU'S BEST CLASS EVAR!" needs to have a flame retardant suit

My it is sad to think what the SECRb used to be and how it has turned to shite, but I'm glad we still have this thread

Now Bucc, you know that if LSU is after a prospect there is NO frickING WAY Alabama could EVER make an impression. They are ALL LSU locks.
