You dont completely fake what we've done so far. We'll have a cold shooting stretch and everyone will act like the sky is falling but we do look top-20 caliber

After the sec championship tournament.

I honestly really don't care about the NCAA tournament - obviously a magical final four run would be incredible but that is asking a lot. But I want to win the SEC tournament really, really bad and it seems that if we show up ready to play there, we have the team that can make a good run at it.

I think the toughness that Rojas brings has been contagious to the rest of the team.

This is probably the only reason that CNO plays him in the rotation. If we're talking about true basketball talent, the kid's got very little. Coach is smart enough to realize that a guy like Rojas brings some intangibles to the team.
Besides, if they ever need a hatchet man on the floor, he's the guy!
PS- Who remembers Tommy Heinsohn when he played for the Celtics?

you guys follow the team closer than i do. but in the games ive seen, it seems the refs start looking for something anything they can call on rojas, the second he steps on the floor.

Rojas plays basketball like a fullback. He's looking for someone to run into. Refs have picked up on it and he never gets the benefit of the doubt. There have been a handful of times this season when he got called for a foul on contact that he didn't even initiate.

NET Top 25 + All the SEC teams

The WKU loss seemed to spark things, so I won't complain too much, but without it we're probably a Top 10 team in NET.

Andy Katz has Alabama #8 in his power rankings and has John Petty as the national player of the week.

That chart just shows how sad our collapses are every season.

Well, to be fair, I found the absolute best point for each team during their season. While we have had collapses, almost all teams are gonna have falls from their peak. It's just the way it works. But yea, most of the peaks are at the same times (early February) and then we do our thing.

It also shows that right now, metrics wise, this is the best team we've had in a decade.

I would say it shows that we have had a long run of fielding mediocre teams that have an odd tendency to go on an annual hot streak towards the beginning/middle of conference play and then regress back to the mean by the end.

Yep - and I don't think it is a coincidence that our best teams have been very limited depth wise, either, and a lot of them either had injuries that caused missed games or wore down our guys who we relied on heavily.

Yeah I mean like I pointed out previously, there was a time not so long ago that we had Avery Jr. and Daniel Giddens on the floor, together, sometimes for 4-5 minutes at a time. You're basically playing with one hand tied behind your back if 2-3 of the top 7 or 8 minutes guys on your roster should be bench players at lower tier mid-major programs. You can't overcome injuries, you can't overcome early foul trouble, you can't overcome a couple of your starters just having off nights for one reason or another. It just puts so much pressure on your best players both mentally and physically to have to carry a team for an entire season with no help from the bench.

Yeah I think some of the talk about our “collapses” (and I’m obviously aware that we have fallen apart at the end of seasons) is basically revisionist history.

Our main problem in every one of those years was we weren’t very good. We had no room to collapse. Honestly, we were ever even a projected 8 seed in any of those years (I’m not talking about Grant’s good year)? A 9 seed?

We lived in the last four in/ last four out.
