Anyone have an idea about the last time we were ranked this highly after December
Don’t think it was either of Grant’s or Johnson’s tournament teams

Alabama’s No. 18 ranking in the AP poll and No. 16 ranking in the coaches poll are approaching the highest of Nate Oats’ career. He got Buffalo as high as No. 14 in both polls in 2018-19.

He had an article today about Alabama but alas I’m poor and don’t pay for a subscription.

I don't either, because I have so many other subscriptions to things.
Everything requires a damn subscription these days.

Fever, Ellis has earned time for his defense. Having said that, Ellis gets a lot of fouls that he doesn't commit. It's evident in his on court frustration with officials. Apparently, he and Rojas are our designated foulers. They are laying off Herb now. All bets are off on this next road game regarding fouls for any of our guys. Note: I'm big on conspiracy theories.

What I find interest about Ellis and Rojas is their opposite nature, and that each of them should learn a bit from each other. Both were JUCO All-Americans and significant scorers, so they do each have some skills.
Rojas's per-game JUCO averages:
FG: 6.07/12.03 (50.4%)
3pt: 0.97/2.52 (38.4%)
FT%: 79.5%
Pts: 19 pts
Assists: 2.21
Turnovers: 2.55
Rebounds: 6.8
Steals: 1.52
Blocks: 0.72
Ellis's per-game JUCO averages:
FG: 6.26/11.68 (53.6%)
3pt: 1.84/4.58 (40.1%)
FT: 80.7%
Pts: 18.1
Assists: 2.19
Turnovers: 2.26
Rebounds: 4.3
Steals: 2.06
Blocks: 1.16
So both were taking ~12 shots per game and scoring 18-19 ppg at the previous level.
The 2 this year:
Rojas per-game:
Minutes: 14.7
FG: 1.3/3.8 (34%)
3pt: 0.3/1.2 (25%)
Pts: 3.9 ppg
FT: 59.1%
Assists: 0.5
Turnovers: 1.4
Rebounds: 3.8
Steals: 0.6
Blocks: 0.1
Ellis per-game:
Minutes: 14.7
FG: 1.3/2.8 (47.2%)
3pt: 0.5/1.5 (36.8%)
FT: 80%
Pts: 4.1 ppg
Assists: 0.9
Turnovers: 0.8
Rebounds: 2.5
Steals: 0.8
Blocks: 0.2
I believe that Rojas is trying TOO hard on the offensive end instead of letting good opportunities come to him. He isn't scoring like he was in JUCO and he is getting frustrated and trying to make too much happen instead of deferring more to the other guards/wings.
Something is also off with Rojas's shot at the moment that he hasn't snapped out of. You could attribute the lesser FG/3pt%'s to the fact that he is playing at a higher level, but he has also gone from a 79.5% FT shooter at JUCO to a 59.1% at Bama, and the FT line is still unguarded and the same distance last time I checked. It's obvious he is frustrated with his offensive output.
On the flip side, Ellis could be a little TOO passive and deferential in offensive sets and could stand to be more aggressive. The guy is a career 39.75% 3pt shooter, but I feel like he turns down at least 1-2 open, in-rhythm 3's per game to defer to our other guards/wings.
Rojas's per-game JUCO averages:
