I haven’t watched much of Florida this year...how well do we match up with them?

I have to think he would be. Can't imagine he'd leave for the nba. As long he he doesn't hate being at Bama, I think we're guaranteed at least one more year.

I actually haven't watched them much either.

I know they like to run this year.

They play much faster this year. White finally realized you can’t bring all the high recruits in and play at a snails pace

They had a big white boy down low that LSU could do nothing with.

Anyone else feel like every kid is named Jalen now? I don't remember that name being so popular 10 years ago. Is there anything particular that people are dedicating it to that I'm not aware of?

Names tend to go on trends. There was likely a strong trend among black people circa 1995-2005 of naming their sons Jalen. Kind of like how if your wife is white and was born in the 1980s there's like a 50% chance her name is Jennifer, Jessica, or Ashley.

I woke up looking forward to the game tonight so I’m pretty sure Alabama will be down double digits by the first media timeout.

We owe Florida one now. They have won too many games over us recently; some undeservedly so.
Won’t be surprised if we win.

Florida is one of those teams we always inexplicably play poorly against and find ways to lose. I can't explain it but through several coaching changes on both sides, we seem to always underperform against them. I hope this is another trend Nate changes.

Going with my recent previous winning strategy of gametracking the game at least through the 12 minute mark of the 2nd half.

Gotta play, er, fan, with discipline.

Nah. Florida is in the same category as Kentucky. They're a consistently good to great team who we frequently play pretty well against for like 30 minutes of game time and completely shite the bed against for the other 10, which ends up causing us to lose.

Vanderbilt and State are the crappy teams we inexplicably lose to every year.

I’m a bit on the bored side so I decided to look and see when was the last time we started an SEC season 3-0, and boy was that a lot more work than I thought it would be.

I had to switch over from ESPN to Basketball reference at some point because ESPN’s game logs only went back to 2002-2003.

As far as I can tell (and granted I could have made a mistake), we haven’t gone 3-0 in the SEC since...

The 1986-1987 season.

We finished 28-5 and lost to Providence 103-82 in the Sweet 16. Billy Donovan had 26.

I’m not double checking all of that. I thought it might have been Grant’s second year, and then I had to keep going till I found it.

It was the 1987 season. Our SID confirmed that to me and he put it in the game notes. I hate you spent time researching the sad facts of Alabama basketball

Ha, it didn’t take that long.

Random thing I noticed in passing: we went 14-17 the year after the 28-5 year. In 1989 we were back to 23 wins. So Wimp just had a disaster year out of nowhere.
